If you're going to be shooting any games with it, definitely the 1911. There's always a division in which it will be competitive while the BHP seems to fall through the cracks and doesn't really shine in any action pistol discipline.
I'd also look into a CZ 75. They're generally cheaper than...
A single piece of evidence will never "solve" a crime. Crimes are solved when all the evidence is woven together to form a coherent and plausible beyond a reasonable doubt story.
I'd be surprised if any factory ammo is made for that caliber anymore. I think you'll have to form your own brass from .30-30

Pausing and thinking is great! I try to cultivate friendships that make me do that on a regular basis.
Imagine if we were all still living with the same views/opinions/values we held after graduating from high school.
I don't have to justify carrying often. When I do, I admit that I don't feel...
Not much goes wrong on a CZ. The finish can be hit or miss, but the newer stuff (applied beginning in the late 90's) should hold up well.
If you shoot it heavily (5k+/year), you'd be wise to order a spare slide stop and trigger return spring. Otherwise all it needs is ammo.
I think that's a...
While this is outside the exercise, I'd rather have a satellite telephone and a swamp boat with 60gal of fuel than any firearm. I'd pack family, some food/water, and heirlooms on the boat and leave the rest to insurance/rebuilding.
Then I'd call my nearest relatives and say, "Hey! I'm headed...
Favorite catalog: Natchez Shooters Supplies
Favorite magazine: Front Sight (the USPSA publication) for shooting or Ducks Unlimited for general outdoors
The articles is most other magazines I've read are just glorified advertisements.
CZ for ergonomics. The PCR, P-01, and P-06 are decockers only. To get a safety on that size gun you need to chose the CZ Compact which is steel framed.
I'd suggest the thin aluminium grips by the custom shop too. Gives it the same width as a 1911 and it feels like single stack. In total size...
This is a very valuable resource for disassembling the HP.

And I don't have a copy of this, but if the Disassembly Guide is any indication, it is also first class

Congrats on what sounds like a great deal.
This forum has tons of information on light loads for .40 minor. Some claim it can be made softer than 9mm.

I picked up new gun for USPSA Limited last night (too cheap to pass up) and will have to...
I second the idea to try a couple matches before sinking money in a new gun. The advice of people actively involved in the sport is first rate.
I shoot USPSA myself and would advise making sure you have 5 or 6 mags for your 1911, a belt holster and some mag pouches, and then showing up at a...
I say Glock 34 because I've heard M&Ps have some extraction issues that need to be worked out.
If you reload I'd suggest a Glock 35 because its more flexible and you'll be able to shoot in Limited with a couple cheap mods.
