    International Hunting.

I am a Canadian Resident. You are allowed 200 rnds ammo, plus need to fill out a customs form to bring your firearm over. Do some research, and get hooked up with an outfitter. They are pricier, but will supply everything you need. PM if you need any info, i just hunt locally for deer/turkey in...

    The under rated cheap knife.

Good read. I was told in LE training that a person armed with a knife, in attack mode, can go across at you over a 20-30 foot span in a mere 2 or so seconds, emphasizing the need for distance that you mentioned. I hate knives, but will have to live with them if I want to eat my steak! Save a...

for smoothbore, i use Challanger slugs and for rifled barrels, i use Hornady Sabot or Remington Corelock Sabot. All 3 very accurate in my experience.

    223 for Doe.

Federal has a 69gr Matchking BTHP, so does remington. I personally wouldn't (well its not legal here) use a .223, but use .243 minimum, or .270 better.

    Advice for a new Pump-gun

I would go with the 870, and find a combo (26" bird and rifled slug), priced best in combo, but can buy just the rifled barrel too. The rifled barrel is very accurate with sabots in my experience.

    .223 Rifles

Handle the Rem 700 SPS and the Tikka T3, see what you like. I picked up the Tikka, just a lighter rifle, barrel is 22.5" (bit shorter), and VERY nice action. No problems after breaking in either.

    Questions about Tikka T3 lite.......

Also picked up a T3 lite .223 (chrome-moly), and consider it a very good deal. Ring set i used is Millett 30MIL, absolutely no problems. The MOA is 1-1.5" @100yds and like the light weight. Add a bipod and you have a heck of a good deal on a varmint/target rifle. The mounts are the "weaver...

Howdy all: Great White North here. Starting shooting with .22 in my teens, and am now in my 40's. Enjoy deer hunting (use 870 with .50 cal sabots), turkey hunting, and plinking with .223 . Looks like a lot of good info to be had here.
