Firing Ranges in or near the quad cities

There is a good one about 40 min from the Quad Cities, in N.Liberty. Not sure if you want to drive that far though.

    10MM on a 1911??

You can also build one yourself. Essex has some nice polished 1911 frames and slides, and Clark makes a nice match grade 10mm barrell. Use your heavier recoil sping and you're golden....

    "arsenal" discovered/confiscated in New Jersey

Jeez.....A half MILLION rounds of ammo.....That's an awful lot of ammunition to just "have". I can see a few thousand rounds, even 10,000 rounds. But to have a half million rounds of live ammo in your possesion, while legal, is going to make you look really bad, and be hard to defend. I mean...

Are silencers legal in all 50 states as long as you pay the 200 dollar tax?

What all can I hunt with 10mm?

It all goes back to how you want to hunt, and how many times you're willing to shoot. People buy these 20,000 dollar Nitro Express doubles to hunt Rhino and Elephant and whatnot. Well, you wanna know what round has killed more elephants than all the others combined? 7.62X39! The AK will drop a...

.40 and 9 mm carbine onwers..what kind of performances can you get??

I concur...........and with any of these carbines, a rapid follow up shot is avaliable if required.

.40 and 9 mm carbine onwers..what kind of performances can you get??

That is honestly what I was expecting from the +P Golden Sabers, but I think they are not as hot as that Hertenberger load.

.40 and 9 mm carbine onwers..what kind of performances can you get??

Makes me wonder what you could get from the 7.62X25 with a 16 in barrell..............

    Tell me why?

But the bad guys in England don't use supressed .22's...........they use sawed off 12guages. That the civilians there can't touch with a 10 foot pole.

.40 and 9 mm carbine onwers..what kind of performances can you get??

Yep, that one is a fairly hot number from the hi-point. But putting it into perspective, the .30 M1 Carbine will do about 1900 fps with a 110gr FMJ, but .30 Carbine is expensive.......I have done some experimenting with different +p handloads though, and got 1600 FPS with 115 gr FMJ out of the...

    Tell me why?

Supressors have many beneficial things going for them. Unfortunately, they have gotten a bad rap from the media and movies. And truly, they could be used for very devious purposes if they were more readily avaliable.

.40 and 9 mm carbine onwers..what kind of performances can you get??

I've actually done some chrony work in this regard. My Browning Hi-Power is the "fastest" 9mm handgun I have. It always, for any given load shoots about 50 FPS faster than my Beretta 92FS, and about 30 fps faster than my Walther P1. This may sound like an anomaly, but it's been proven time after...

.300 Win Mag vs. .308 - practical differences?

    Coach Gun for home defense?

I wasn't home, I was on duty for the Nat'l Guard that weekend. There was also a really severe thunderstorm taking place at the time, so nobody heard it. But the police were scouring my yard the next day with metal detectors, because quite a few bullets exited the house and ended up in my front...

    Coach Gun for home defense?

In reality, with 90% of all home invasions your situation will be resolved with one round of #4 or OO buck. That usually ALWAYS results in a very dead bad guy. If two are needed, then so be it. I live in a pretty low crime area, but my friend and next door neighbor sucessfully defeated his...

    NRA Article - Taurus Judge

For the poster that said it would be a good home defense peice for the lady......true. If she can learn to use it effectively in defense, and with .410 buckshot loaded your best tactic may be the same used with a Raven MP25 or a Ruger MkII. Empty the friggin thing into the BG's face and...

    Moose hunting, recommended caliber

I have a cousin in Alberta, and he has taken countless moose with the 7mmRem.Mag. I am going with him in less than a year, and was going to take a scoped Mosin Nagant, but he talked me into getting a nice 7mmMag built on on a K98 action with a Douglas barrell and a Nightforce scope that cost me...

    Arminius HW357

Surprisingly, mine is a very faithful reproduction of the SAA. Even down to the case hardened finish, which appears to be well-executed. I am still in shock over how well it shot. I never expected to like the gun, or even care about it, but to me any weapon that is accurate and reliable kinda...

    Arminius HW357

I found an Arminius HW357 in a box in my garage. I had inherited it about 12 years earlier, and packed it away and forgot about it. After cleaning it all up, oiling it, and inspecting it I bought some ammo and headed for the range. It's a Colt SAA clone, so the rear sight is just a groove in the...
