    Shield or PPS?

I bought the Shield and FIL got the PPS so I have shot them side by side on numerous occasions. I'll stick with my Shield. The striker spring on the PPS stacks inside the striker channel and the trigger on the Shield is much smoother. I will admit the PPS is more accurate but the PPS cost...

Thoughts on the S&W Shield 9mm

I've liked mine from the first round down the barrel. No malfunctions in over 500 rounds. It is a keeper for sure.

How's the S&W Shield for accuracy?

I shoot 115 gr. bullets in my Shield and it is plenty accurate enough for my purposes.

Shopping for my first Colt, need help...

Gold Cup is a good gun, but if you want a great shooter with a lot of class look at the Combat Elite. National Match barrel, two toned pistol, special grips, very reliable. It is a 5" gun and carries just as easily as my Commander. There is only 3/4" difference in length. That ain't much...

    Walgreen's Loses My Business FOREVER

These big corporations aren't worried about employee and public safety, they are worried about litigation and loosing lawsuits for liability. Most of the companies are ultimately run by bean counters and all they worry about is the money. Yes, the guy broke the rule, which probably saved his...

    Colt 1908 Vest Pocket

It is hard to say from the pictures but my 1908 built in 1912 has a very highly polished finish and the bluing, though worn, is very shiny. The grips on mine are also more rounded on the top compared to yours. This would lead me to believe you might have the later finish, but again, that is...

    Glock 36 reliability

I've had my G36 since they came out in 2000 and no problems. It is a little picky about certain hollow point ammo if the hole is too big(ie: Gold Dots).

    G42 aftermarket sights

All my Glocks wear Dawson sights. I would start there, might even give them a call and ask what they can do for you.

    Glock 19 replacement barrel choices...?

I'm going to throw Briley Mfg. into the mix of barrel makers. They make very accurate barrels but I would suspect the chamber isn't near as loose as a factory Glock.

1911 lust...what is it about them???

In todays terms, you might be better served if you spend a few more dollars on a gun like a Springer TRP or a Colt Combat Elite. If needed, get a good smith to do a trigger job on it for $125.00 or so and enjoy shooting a better gun. If you go a little further and get something like a Baer...

is the S&W 41 ammo picky?

My FIL only shoots CCI standard velocity in his 41 and it works fine. My Buck Mark is just as accurate and has a better trigger than his pistol. Save hundreds of dollars and check out the Browning. BTW Blazer HV ammo shoots best in mine.

    Army / Rifle Cleaning

For a point of reference, my dad joined the Army in 1927. That being said, when you came home from a range session or hunting trip that rifle was cleaned first thing, before you ate, slept, or anything else, and it better be spotless when you got through. I'm the same way now, wonder why?:)

    Colt Combat Government let down

I would send a PM to Brent over on 1911 forum and ask his advise. Past that, I would contact Claudio Salassa at Briley in Houston and see what he has to say about it and what he may be able to do to fix the problem. Did you clean the pistol before you shot it? I would suspect it may have...

    Person in Critical Condition

Newton's basic laws of physics say "What goes up, must come down". If you are in the way it could be disastrous. He also said "An object in motion will remain in motion unless acted on by an outside force." In this case it would be the force of your body stopping the bullet. Quite simply...

    Pistol for very small hands

My first thought was the S&W Shield. My second thought was the Kahr line. My SIL has small hands and likes the Kahr P9. Here is the trick: hold the slide solidly with your left hand and push forward on the frame with your right hand. The leverage this way makes it a lot easier for those of...

Thoughts on the S&W M&P Shield

Mine has been 100% since the first round I put through it.

    Army wants a harder-hitting pistol

The military had the pistol to fit all their needs and specs until 1985. Some idiot decided to replace the wonderful 1911 for the inferior M9. Why do you think a lot of special units are going back to the 1911? Only one reason I can think of, they work and work well against the enemy.

Guns not wanted in "family-friendly" Target

Target doesn't want guns in their store....SO? I shop at Wal-Mart anyway. Don't need Target.

Is this a common Glock problem?

My DIL had this problem with her new G19 a while back. Found it was a bad lot of factory ammo. How do I know? Tried some the same stuff in a Hi Power and when it jammed I found a bullet pushed back into the case. Several of the cases were bulged too. We changed ammo and no more problems. My...
