    Choosing a 28

They aren't cheap, but I'd recommend the Benelli legacy 28 if you are looking for an auto. Very lightweight, but swings well and has little recoil. Very reliable and one of the prettiest guns I own. I picked one up off my dealers gun rack and knew I had to have it.

    New CZ rifles?

Yes, the bolt locks back in a similar manner to a 10/22 with a tab on the trigger guard. It releases when the handle is pulled back a la a 10/22 w an auto bolt release.

    New CZ rifles?

I have a CZ512 in 22lr and really like it. Trigger was very gritty when new, but I followed a post on RFC and polished the internals and it is much better now. The stock is well suited for scope mounting and mine wears a leupold 2-7x. Accuracy is very good, averages 1" at 50yds with cheap...

    22 mag rifle

If you like the cz platform, they have several 452 and 455 models in 22 mag. They also have the cz 512 semi auto in 22 mag, which is a nice gun once you get the trigger parts polished.

    S&W 317 .22lr ammo issues.

I've had binding issues with CCI velocitors in my 317, but not with the typical HV bulk ammo. Suits me fine as it has functioned fine over thousansds of rounds of federal bulk hv.

500 vs. 460 S&W in the used market...I get the impression that...

If you reload, the flexibility of the 460 using 45lc and 454 goes rightout the window. The point of impact for45lc is drastically different from 460 full power loads, and havent given good groups compared to the 460 loads. I used 460 brass for practice loads, but use unique or trail boss. The...

    Ruger Single Ten Experiences?

I guess I'm the minority that likes the fiber optic sights. They work great for hunting, especially for squirrels where I can't always see the sights clearly under the shade of the tree canopy. As for reloading, if after some practice you should be able to clear the empties in a few seconds...

    S&W 317 vs. Ruger Bearcat

Make sure you try the trigger on a Bearcat before you buy. My chunky fingers didn't fit in the trigger guard... My 317 has been a nice trail gun, super light, good accuracy, and a nice trigger once I swapped the stock 18# trigger spring out for a 12# one.

heavy cast bullets for 460 S&W

Perhaps I haven't found the right powder and measurement yet, but I haven't been able to get either the 240gr or 300gr Hornady bullets to shoot anywhere near as tight as the 200gr ones. The 200gr FTX bullets have been laser accurate out of my 10.5" PC Hunter.

    Scopes for 460 S&W

Thanks davepool. Leupold recommends the mediums, but looking at both your 460 and the leupold press photos, it seems like they are using low rings as the base appears to be of similar thickness as each of the pieces where the rings join together. It took about 1 month to get my two leupolds...

    Scopes for 460 S&W

The leupold 2.5-8X VX3 is on sale at Cabela's for $399 right now, although they are on backorder. I have one on my 460 Hunter and it works extremely well. 2.5-4X works for offhand and 4X+ for shooting off the bench. I like it so much I have one on order for my .500. Davepool: are using low...

    .460 Optics/rings that won't fail...

I finally located a S&W .460 PC Hunt 10.5" to complement my two .500's, and was looking at adding a scope to take full advantage of its flat shooting, long distance accuracy. I was considering buying a Leupold VX-3 2.5-8X as I have one on my SRH .44 and it has held up great over a few...

    S&W .460 mag or S&W .500?

8 3/8" vs 4" The 8 3/8" version kicks less, has more velocity, and throws less of the blast back at you. It is heavy and bulky though and much more of a man portable weapon than a handgun. For range use that would be fine, and it would fine as a primary hunting arm. The 4" seems much...

    S&W .460 mag or S&W .500?

I'll echo the others in that if you hand load the .500 is the way to go. You can make loads that have .357 power with .38 recoil all the way up to full bore loads that will exceed the power of many centerfire rifles. I bought one and it was so much fun to shoot, I ended up buying another...

44 Magum, Smith 629/29 vs Ruger Superblackhawk

I have a S&W M29-3, Super Blackhawk Hunter, and a Super Redhawk. The Super Redhawk is by far the ugliest, but the most comfortable to shoot. The felt recoil is noticeably less than the other two guns. All three are more accurate than I can shoot them. Given the proper concentration and...

    Ruger Single Six

The Single Six is one of a few models that I actually own more than one of, mainly because I like it so much. Accurate, dependable, and old school in function, the Single Six and a brick of .22 is a great way to kill an afternoon. $350 is too high for a blue model, I paid $400 for a...
