I did read the entire thread and I only can add that I do not trust a semi-auto as a primary defensive weapon. I do carry a .45 as a backup, Glock 30, but my primary is a S&W 640 in .357 that always goes bang! It's all about your own personal level of comfort. Mine is a pre lock revolver first.

Anything made by Taurus. Anything not in .45 :)

That's too funny! My wife also carries a 640, after trying many different guns including many semi-autos she loves the feel of the 640. The heft absorbs recoil well and she has no problem with 180 gr .357 Ranger SXT

I have the chance to pick one up (B76) at a local shop, $300 out the door, only one mag, no box or book but almost new condition. The single mag and no spare parts is scaring me off but I thought $300 was not a bad price, still may grab it.
