CZ 75s in .40 any good?

I have a CZ-75B in .40. It is great to shoot, and runs everything you can throw at it. I cannot speak to long term reliability, but it does have extended slide rails compared to the 9mm, and locks up very tight. Hard to imagine any lack of durability; far lesser guns (as far as build materials...

    CenterfireSystems side-by-side 12ga: any good?

I have been thinking about getting a coach gun, and saw these no-name ones over at Centerfire Systems. Does anybody have any information about what these guns are, where they come from, if they are worth the money? Thanks in advance.

    CZ-82 magazine release issue

I posted this on CZ forum and didn't get an answer, so I thought I'd try here. Just got my CZ-82 from AIM, and one of the 2 magazines it shipped with does not drop free easily if the slide is forward. With the slide locked back, it drops free positively. The other mag works perfectly. There...

    Shotguns for Home Defense

You might want to read some of the knowledge on the web on this topic. Carteach has a nice overview post of what you should consider for an HD shotgun.

Rock Island 1911 vs Taurus PT1911

Not to fan the flames or anything, but the reason you're getting conflicting advice OP is probably because you set your budget at around double the price of both the brands you're shopping. RIA and Taurus are usually considered good deals for under $500, not under $800, so you should reconsider...

HK USP .45 vs Sig Sauer P220

Don't they make SA/DA and SAO versions of the P220?

    any cyclists on here?

I haven't tried one yet, but I'm planning to pick up one of the underarmor-style holster-shirts for my more athletic carry needs: http://www.abetterholster.com/index.htm

How to carry a Glock 36 at work? (professional dress)

+1 on the supertuck. I've got a CZ75B in 40, and I forget its there. I usually wear an undershirt beneath, then the holster, and then my dress shirt tucked over it, but its actually quite comfortable against bare skin if you aren't wearing the undershirt. It's even comfortable sitting down which...

    Gunfighting cabbie

What level of modification are you allowed to do to the car? There was a recent thread that outlined a pretty straightforward system for mounting a holster under the dash, if you can get away with drilling a couple holes.

    C&R pain

Took me over a month to get the forms (which you now have to order online, free of charge), and I filed about 5 weeks ago now and am still waiting to hear back. Must be a backlog. Sucks too, I'm really worried all the sub-$200 CZ82s are going to sell out before I get it.

"Just a Quick Stop"; carry your CCW!

Good reminder. I was just kicking myself this evening for forgetting to strap up before running some errands (since I can't carry to my classes earlier in the day). Now I just have to convince my boss to let me carry at work.

    XD45 Tactical

How on earth did you stay outside long enough to fire 3k+ rounds in -20 degrees? That is impressive though (with regards to the gun). Cold conditions are much harder on firearms than warm.

    gold dot vs black talon

Not sure if they have GoldDot, but Brassfetcher is a good place to look for ballistic test data. I believe the FBI standard is 14" minimum penetration in gel for self defense, so make your choices based on that. http://www.brassfetcher.com/

Couple Pics of my new Walther!

Looks good. Do you actuate the mag release with your trigger finger or thumb? I have big hands but I could never drop the mag without shifting my grip on the walthers I've handled.

    Shot placement is key!

The point the article makes is that it is impossible for rounds to expand with 1" of penetration and that terminal ballistics were consistent with ballistic gelatin tests with barriers; ergo, they were hitting him after penetrating autoglass and/or other parts of the vehicle. Clearly, whatever...

CZ 85 instead of 75?....Also Omega trigger info?

75B does have ambi safety, but only the 85 has ambi slide release and mag release.

How often civilians and police hit bystanders

I wouldn't be so quick to jump to a conspiratorial-suppression-of-research conclusion. As coloradokevin's example illustrates, ballistics in the real world can be very difficult to predict and measure. Just imagine for a minute how these data would actually be gathered; how would you know...

    Best Concealed Holster?

+1 on the Crossbreed, I've got the Supertuck (their standard IWB model). My first, and so far only holster, for a full-size CZ75B in .40. I haven't carried in warm weather yet, so I can't speak to that, but I find I can forget I have it on. This site gives a great overview of many of the issues...
