Have you ever bluffed to avoid a confrontation?

"Yo' man, you got a dime? Give me some money." "No man. I got no money." "What's that?" "It's my switchblade..." "Cool. See ya." Yep, it was the fourth grade and my switchblade was my collapsible Cub Scout toothbrush. I bluffed my way out a couple of times. Once with the toothbrush...

It Happened At The Range & I am Happy It Was Not During A Confrontation

Yesterday, I went to get out my 9mm from it's lockbox and entered the combination to get a clicking noise and a failure to unlock. The battery must be dying. I had to go get the regular key. If it was an emergency, I might have been dying.

    When does awareness become prejudice?

Relocating at risk kids to rural Georgia Arc-Lite, there are a couple of problems with relocating at risk youth to rural Georgia: 1. Creepy Banjo People. (At least in North Georgia). Valdosta, Folkston, etc., I can handle. But, North Georgia kind of creeps me out. It's Hollywood's...

    Eye dominance

I'm right eye dominant and left handed. My marksmanship instructor at the University of Florida had me shoot rifles right handed. I've never had a problem with rifles. I think you'll have to get a left-handed rifle. But, I've never really had an official answer to this question.

    Marlin 'Glenfield' Model 60

I got one of these http://www.chuckhawks.com/bushnell_22_scopes.htm last week for my Marlin model 25N. The optics seem fine to me. But, I haven't had it down to the range yet.

Should you let an intruder escape?

IMO, I think the answer is - Yes. You can't shoot someone who is running away from you. You can only shoot someone to stop an imminent threat to life. If you try to physically restrain an intruder, you could find yourself in a struggle over your firearm. So, if an intruder decides to run...

Violent Neighbor - No Police Protection - What do I do?

Movers are $50 per hour. Lawyers are $350-$500+ per hour. Some people are put on this Earth to test our patience as gun owners. I have been in your situation many times and it stinks. Keep a log of every call to the police and to the rental office. Their failure to deal with this guy...

    When does awareness become prejudice?

Pre-justice, prejudice . . . My auto insurance company didn't have any problem charging me higher rates when I was younger. They also didn't have any problem charging me higher rates due to my age. Their statistics clearly showed that young men got into more car accidents than the rest of the...

Police: 11-Year-Old Robs Walgreens at 'Gunpoint'

It's easier for politicians to propose gun control measures than to tell their constituents that they are bad parents.

Gun Ban at Atlanta AP upheld (AP / Chicago Tribune)

Pick yer battles wisely. I don't think that Georgia Carry chose their battle very wisely here. Generally, the airport is crawling with police and security personnel and the general public does not see the need for a gun at the airport. People can see why you would want a gun on the MARTA...

To open the door - Or NOT to open the door - that is the question

I think everyone should watch the evening news, COPS, and check their local PDs most wanted site. After awhile, they will recognize what criminals in their community look like. Part of being streetwise is recognizing potential trouble ahead of time. I have noticed a pattern in Atlanta where...

To open the door - Or NOT to open the door - that is the question

First, I'd have to run through my stereotypes list. Does person look like -- A) Someone I've seen on COPS or AMW? B) Someone I saw in that movie Deliverence? C) Minority male Age (16-25)? I would not pretend I wasn't home because the door knock might be a burglar trying to see if my...

The Kirkwood MO City Council Shooting as it happened from the prosecutors report

Biker's advice makes sense. I think the city council members were in a bad spot. The best that they could hope for is an emergency exit door to their rear or some cover behind their podium/conference table. If one were a spectator at a city council meeting, I'd think that sitting in the...
