Steoger Coach Gun Pros and Cons

I've heard some negative comments about Stoeger quality, some positive too, but wow DHart, that is one very nice looking shotgun, with beautiful photography too. What a nice set up for travel. I've been looking for a coach gun and that Stoeger deserves a second look.

    The Marlin 39 Club

New to Me 39A Mountie First post on the Marlin 39 Club thread. Back in 1966 when I enlisted in the US Army I sold my beloved Golden 39A to a neighbor who loved it as much as I did. While the Marlin Mountie was my favorite style none were available locally when I went to buy a 22 rifle, so...

Old 20 gauge Wingmaster Barrel Source?

I picked up the old wingmaster for $150 so a new/old bbl. will probably cost more than the gun. For now I'll keep it as is and I'll check out e-bay and GB from time to time. The old girl has survived 58 years as is, so I'll keep her in tact. After a good disassembly and cleaning the action is...

Old 20 gauge Wingmaster Barrel Source?

I recently aquired a nice old Remington 870 Wingmaster 20 gauge with 26" bbl. The gun was mfg. in 1954 and back then the 20 gauge gun was made on the 12 gauge frame with a 20 gauge barrel. I would like to purchase a new slug/smooth bore bbl. but cannot locate a source. The newer 870 20 gauge...

    Why the Savage model 24V?

I have two. A Savage 24C Camper's Companion 22LR/20ga. from about 1968, which is a compact version with ammo storage in the butt stock. The other is a Stevens 24 (pre-Savage) in 22LR/410, from 1940's era. Love them both. Very accurate. Simple and versitle. Usually they show up when...

    Combo guns

I still have my compact Savage 24 Camper's Companion 22lr/20 gauge and also my old (pre-Savage) Stevens 22lr/410. Nice for backpacking or just woods bumming and as stated these are great for small game, pests, snakes etc. I know that Savage will be releasing the newest version the Savage 42...

    Rem 870 Wingsmaster w/ 18" barrel

I have a Remington 870 Wingmaster "Junior" in 20 gauge that I bought new 5 years ago. It came with an 18" bbl. It was stock from the factory. Nice gun. Dealer told me it was an exclusive short run of the Wingmaster 20 gauge 870's. Later Remington offered the "Junior" 870's in the less...

    New 4-Inch Ruger SP Announced

I think its a pretty interesting gun. I give Ruger credit for being creative in offering some variations of their popular revolvers giving us the new Single 10, the 22LR SP101, and now the SP101 4" 357. They can't/won't please everyone but I bet they sell a fair amount of the new offerings...

Please recommend .22 mag ammo for Ruger Single Six.......

My Single Six with 4 5/8 bbl. does very well with Winchester Magnum 40 grain JHP or FMJ. The Win's perform just a bit better than the CCI 40 grains. Both brands are good choices.

    classic model 36 = interested

I bought a new S&W 36 chief's special snubbie and it is a very fine handgun. Very nice fit and finish and it shoots even 38+P with modest recoil. I shoot it much better than my buddy's 637. The extra 5 oz. in weight helps a lot. I was surprised at how accurate it is (most likely not due to...

New Speer .22mag ammo for self defense

ChuckHawks.com just did a test on the Speer version I believe. You can read it for yourself but his thumbs up conclusion was a bit overhyped if you ask me. Both Hornady and Speer are advertising specialized 22 Magnum rounds on each website. I have not seen either. IMMC the Speer is a 40 gr...

    Best light recoiling 38spl round

I now use Hornady Critical Defense 110's in my S&W 36 snubbie. I like them a lot. The standard pressure versions give low recoil, are accurate, and overall are good performers.

What wood grips for an "L" (lock) model Ruger Single Six?

It worked for me. In 2010 bought a new Ruger Single Six blued 4 5/8 (L series) with lock and it came with the new black plastic grips. I prefer the wood Ruger rosewood grips for a blued Single Six so I ordered a pair from Ruger's store and they fit fine. I also tried out switching the...
