I've been searching for a replacement pistol for the last couple of months, and my research has narrowed it down between a CZ and a Sig, probably a Sig 229 vs a CZ 75 Compact ( maybe a P-01/06 based on availability). But I'm having a very difficult time of it.
I'm not sure how to explain it...
In general, the newest pistol offerings from the major manufacturers are polymer.
Excluding 1911's, do you think think that we will see the end of new designs being produced with metal frames?
I have several 9mm's and this was the year I was going to get something else.
Well, a new President and an ammo shortage later, I'm without a new toy.
I've got enough 9mm ammo, and don't have an issue with the round, but I just don't think I'll get the sense of excitement from another...
I have a couple of combos of bullets for a particular caliber that I've settled on, but I find it kind of a pain when swapping between them and getting the OAL length just right.
I was wondering if you guys had some tips, or maybe it is beneficial enough to go buy a couple of dies that I...
Long story short, I'm helping my in-law find a 1911.
But one of the appeals is that there is a lot of aftermarket parts.
So the idea is to stay away from any makes/models that deviate from the standard.
Ex: Doublstacked Para's.
His goal is to have a couple makes/sizes, and have as few...
I'm looking at the CZ's and with the newer introduction of the P-01 and P-06 I'm concerned if the 75 Compacts will soon see end of life.
I'd prefer the safety mechanism of the Compacts over the decocker of the P's but I don't want to get an item that will be discontinued anytime soon.
Local shop doesn't carry the Hodgdon 2009 Annual Manual.
I was curious if it contained more load info than what's offered on their website.
Specifically .380, 9mm, and .45.
I've got no problem ordering a copy, but if it is only a published version of what they have online, then I won't...
Powders on Hand:
W-231
Universal
HS-6
Wouldn't mind info for the following either since I plan on picking up a pound of each to try when they are back in stock locally:
Unique
WSF
I'd prefer the W-231 since I have several pounds of that.
I was hoping some people had some good clear photos of pressure signs to look for.
My book has just a couple of b/w photos and it isn't real obvious.
Now that I am getting into more experimenting, I want to be more sure what I'm keeping my eyes peeled for.
Thanks!
I've always picked up primers locally, but lately it has been a real chore.
Worse, when they finally have them, I clean them out because they just have just a few more than I need.
Traditionally I've never shot enough where I feel I need to order enough primers to warrant the Hazmat fee...
I know the normal arguments for 9 vs 40 vs 45, but if peoples choices would change if you remove the higher capacity out of the equation for the 9 and 40.
If you were limited to the same amount of rounds for each, how many of you would you always take the 45 or would the other factors such as...
I was just curious if people start from scratch when going from Mfg A's bullet to Mfg B's bullet if both bullets weigh the same, and are of the same type?
For example A's 290gr FMJ vs B's 290gr FMJ.
Or how about when switching from two bullet shapes from the same Mfg.
For example A's...
I need to pick up some more powder. I've been using W-231 which I'll still get more of and use for my FMJ loads, but I saw a few posts that stated that W-231 was not a very good match with a 147gr bullet.
Unfortunately I don't load enough to justify buying large enough quanitities to offset...
Went to the range yesterday mostly so a buddy could check-out his new Bersa Thunder .380.
It was having feeding issues and would jam at least once per magazine.
He was pretty discouraged, but I tried to reassure him it was probably just needing to get past the break-in period.
Any other...
Reading all your guys posts have gotten me to venture out of my safety zone.
I've never been daring enough to try cast bullets before because I didn't know where to turn if something wasn't answered in my book.
But with you guys, I feel like I'm a armed with a powerful support network...
As some of you may recall from another thread, I was looking for a newer more up to date load book since my original 15 year old one.
I was prompted to do this when I recently started loading .380 and accidently purchased some 88gr bullets and my book had no data for it, and neither did...
