I have two handguns for 40 S&W and would have a third if it had have been available when I bought my H&K P30. I also like the 357 SIG.

Anchorite, Right now mine is set up for 357 SIG but was originally 40 S&W. I still have the 40 barrel but it shoots nice both ways and is accurate. It is in my CC lineup.

P229 was going to be my suggestion also.

I am a bit prejudiced but, I think the 229 would make a good starting point. If you look around a bit you can probably find a nice PD trade in for about what you are looking to spend or maybe just a bit more.

I prefer open end holsters. Much less chance of trash getting down inside of it and getting into the barrel.

Sig makes some fine pistols and lots of guys on Sigtalk are getting the 365's and 320's but I am old school and absolutely detest ANY striker fired pistol. Just prefer mine with a hammer.

That sounds like a nice deal. If I didn't already have a 92fs Centurion I would be looking at it. My Centurion isn't going anywhere anytime soon. It makes a nice carry piece.

Looks similar to a Tom Threepersons except or the braided seam and I think EP saddlery makes those. What ever it is and whoever made it it is a very nice holster.

I have carried cross draw from time to time but usually carry on hip strong side. I have also thought of starting to carry SOB from time to time but would need entire new holsters for that so, probably won't go there anytime soon

I have a P6 and have changed nothing on it. I am not the best shot in the world (I do manage to put them in the mid section of the target ) and my groups are tighter with my P6 than any other gun I own.

First 40 I bought was a P229R CPO and it was nearly like new. First ammo I bought was 180 Gr. however when I re-ordered I bought Double Tap 155 and it serves well. I have it loaded in both of my 40 S&W pistols. You will NOT be disappointed in the 229 CPO.

IBmikey beat me to it. I have the P6 and it is just like It came imported and it is one of my best shooters and one of my favorite carry pieces. If you ever shoot one you won't easily get rid of it.

I have always thought Kimbers were over priced. That can also be said for Sig and H & K. I own two sigs, a P229R and a P6 and an H &K P30. However I have heard that Kimber has had a lot of QC problems in the last few years but, understand that they now have all these problems ironed out.
