    Bluing vs salt

Need a professional opinion. I know bluing involves the use of mineral salts for the actual bluing process but isn't normal table salt corrosive to gun bluing?

    Anyone ever dealt with CopsPlus?

I had the same problem with CopsPlus. They billed my cc for a Bianchi holster and did not have it in stock. After a month of moving the shipping dates, I requested a refund, which they complied with. I don't think they're scamming anyone, they just don't stock everything they advertise...

    lever loop

Rifleman Loop Here is a pic of a Rifleman loop done for me several years ago by Maurice (Mo) Hunt, who was Chuck Connor's personal gunsmith and friend. Mo produced a few of these special numbered Rifleman Winchester '92 SRC's a few years ago before his tragic death. It is very hard to "spin"...

    Parker-Hale Parts? (recoil pad)

Looking for an original Parker-Hale recoil pad and was wondering if anyone might know of a source (preferably in the US) that may stock Parker-Hale parts? I'm trying to keep the rifle all original. Thank you!

Anyone sold a gun on Gunsamerica?

I used to buy/sell on GunsAmerica, but have stopped beacause of habitual email/billing problems and now the navigation issues with the new website. It seems like you have to constantly refresh when scrolling back and the search engine function has some quirks as well.

    Slidestop scratch question

I just purchased a full sized stainless Colt 1911 in the matte stainless finish. It has the dreaded "idiot scratch". Can anyone recommend an easy refinish method for this small spot without creating a "shiny spot" under the slidestop? I thought maybe a fine emory cloth or ulta fine sandpaper...

    Slide Cut Question

Slide Cut Thanks guys for the great suggestions! I'll definitely be on the phone Monday. EGW does nice work and Caspian has very high quality slides. I know it would be cheaper to buy a new slide, but I am trying to keep the pistol and slide logo/lettering original. I'll repost at the end of...

    Slide Cut Question

I want to replace the Elliason sights on a Colt Gold Cup with Novak's Extreme Duty tactical sights. Is it possible to fill in the existing Elliason cut and re-cut the slide for tactical sights? I know this would involve a lot of labor filling, sanding and polishing. Can anyone recommend a high...

    "The Rifleman" Loop Lever

Can anyone recommend a good gunsmith that could fabricate and install a high quality loop lever for my Winchester 94? Winchester makes a loop lever, but I would like a larger, more round custom lever, similar to the one Chuck Connors used on "The Rifleman" TV series, without the trip screw, of...

Les Baer Hard Chrome...who does it?

Thanks Kruzr. I checked out Tripp Research, but was told it wasn't him. I edited my thread to reflect that. Tripp Research has always been my favorite hardchromer, although the Baer vendor isn't bad either.

Les Baer Hard Chrome...who does it?

Does anyone know who Les Baer, Inc. uses to hardchrome their pistols? I know RMA does the Bear Coat, but not the hardchrome. Not Tripp, although I think Tripp is one of the best hardchromers around.

    seeking advice

Quality Two things I have learned: 1. Buy the best quality, most reliable firearm you can afford. I personally am partial to Les Baer's and Wilson Combat pistols, although there are many good production pistol manufacturers. 2. NEVER keep a live round in the chamber. (unless you are LE...
