Thinking of selling Kimber 84M for pre-64 Winchester 70

I have a great Kimber 84M in .308 that drives tacks. However, I've been getting the itch for a pre-64 Winchester model 70. I don't see myself saving up to buy the Winny in addition to the Kimber. Should I do it? Pros/cons?

Is the Remington 725 a sleeper?

The Remington 725, deluxe version of the 721, hinged floor plate, cut checkering, three position safety, and only 17,000 made from 1958-61. Do you think in years ahead collectors will start seeking them out? Why, or why not? How do they compare to a pre 64 Winchester model 70?

    Target scope for load development

Is it common to use a dedicated target scope for working up loads in hunting rifles? Just wondering how many people put a target scope on their rifles for load development, find the best load, then replace the target scope with something more practical.

Rifle for a vintage Weaver M4 scope?

This is a bit backwards. Looking for a rifle for my vintage Weaver k4 60B scope with standard duplex reticle. Excellent blueing. Let's narrow it down to a deer rifle from 1956 - 1969. Whatcha think?

    2.75" 12ga Turkey Loads

Hello all, Any recommendations on a good turkey load in 2.75" 12 ga. Got a 1971 Ithaca Model 37 that I'd like to use on birds. Hoping to find a load that is very solid out to 40 yard, and maybe squeeze another few yards out in a pinch. I've read good reviews of the Winchester STXS126 Xtended...

Transformation of my great uncle's 1968 Remington 760 - Before and After

Just gotta share the progress on my great uncle's Remington 760. Here it is the way I received it, with see thru mounts. Decided right off the bat that I needed to lose the see through setup. Took it off, took the gun apart, and scrubbed the down. Installed a Timney trigger. What a...

1968 Remington 760, pretty dang accurate! (pics)

Some of you have probably seen my posts about purchasing my great uncle's 1968 Remington 760 from my great aunt after he passed away. After hearing so many mixed reviews on these guns being 2"-3" MOA at best, while some get close to 1" MOA, my awareness was heightened. The gun itself is in...

Redfield 3x9x, could this be late 1960s?

Is it possible that this Redfield is from around 1968 based on the logo, etc?

    Vintage Leupold M8 3x - questions

Thinking of purchasing a vintage Leupold M8 3x for a late 60s .30-06. What can I expect in terms of reliability, clarity, distortion, eye relief, and maintaining point of impact after repeated use? Are there any other fixed power scopes in the 3x to 4x range from the late 60s that you...

Target crown for Remington 760 worth it?

So, my newly acquired Remington 760 is at the smith. Although it hasn't been shot much since 1968, and the factory crown is in what appears to be good shape, he says that putting a target crown on it will help accuracy. Of course, I'm aware of how re-crowning works. But, I'm wondering if...

    Uncle's 1968 Remington 760 AND 1971 Ithaca 37!!!

Some of you chimed in on the poll I posted a few months back to help me decide between my great uncle's guns. He passed away back in February, and my aunt needed the money to help with funeral expenses. Here is that thread with some very good responses...

Just got back from the range with a new ProChrono Digital chronograph. I have a very accurate .308 load and I was wanting to know for certain the velocity. Kimber 84m Classic Select (22" barrel) .308 Winchester Winchester brass Federal Gold Match primers IMR 3031, 43.2 grains Sierra...

Should I trade my pre-64 Win 94 for used Mossberg 935 turkey gun?

Local gun store has a used Mossberg 935 Magnum Turkey 12ga 3.5" with the Ulti-full choke tube. Cosmetically, the gun has seen some use in the woods, but appears to be in solid condition otherwise. They have a $399 price tag on it. I'm considering offering my 1956 Winchester 94 in .30-30 as...

    Kimber 84m shooting excellent

Kimber 84m Select Grade .308 Win is shooting excellent. Proud of my 6-pound skinny barrelled deer rifle. 200 yards, .75" group (.375 MOA), 150 grain Sierra Pro Hunter, 43.2 grains of IMR3031. It wears a Leupold VX3 2.5-8x36 scope. Same load at 300 yards. Target was not quite level and the...

    Which to choose: Uncle's 1966 Remington 760 or 1971 Ithaca 37?

My great uncle passed away about a month ago, and he left behind a gun rack full. My aunt could really use the extra $$ so she's selling them off. The two I'm most interested in are: 1966 Remington 760, .30-06, with same period Redfield 3x9x scope. or 1971 Ithaca 37 Featherlight, 12...

Value of mid-1960s Remington 760 .30-06 with Redfield

Had a family member pass away who was the first owner of a 1965-67 (approx) Remington 760 .30-06 with a 3x9x Redfield from the same era. Not sure if it's an ADL, BDL, etc, but it's supposedly in very good condition according to my dad. Can anyone tell me what the blue book values are versus...

    Dang loose bolts!

:cuss: So, I've been all balled up for some time now with my Kimber 84m grouping poorly. I've been working up loads with no luck. Of course, I just "knew" that the rifle was in good shape, bolts secure, etc. Until I broke down and bought a torque screwdriver yesterday... Yeah. Every...

    Front rest for hunting rifle

What is a good brand/model of front shooting rest for a standard hunting rifle? Something adjustable. I've looked at the Caldwell Rock, but I wonder if there is something else that you guys use. Also, any suggestions on the rear rest/bag? Up until now I've used various sandbags for the...

    New barrel for Kimber 84m?

Thinking of replacing the barrel on my Kimber 84m .308 Win. I'd like it to shoot tinier, more consistent groups. Which brand do you guys recommend?
