    Dumb question about shooting slugs

So do I, but I can change out the barrels quite easily with my Mossberg 500. It originally had a 28" barrel, but I put an 18.5 inch one on it to make it easier to handle indoors for a self-defense scenario.

    Dumb question about shooting slugs

I've never fired a shotgun slug in my life. Can they be shot out of a smooth bore barrel? I'm guessing they'd function okay, but I'd bet accuracy would really suffer. Is a rifled barrel necessary for effective slug shooting?

How safe are 1911's to carry cocked and locked?

Yes, 45auto, you are absolutely correct. I forgot the series 80 safety was disengaged by the trigger. I knew that, honest! Didn't they mostly go away because people didn't like how it messed with the "holy grail" 1911 trigger and, by and large, move to a grip activated safety?

What exactly is an AK-47 Type?

If you want, I could forward you a copy of the email that Sgt. Bastura, the XO of the SFLU sent me. Better than nothing and I keep a printed copy in my range bag should I ever be questioned. I bought my AK-74 right here at a gun show in Waterbury. Another "mind easer" was he also told me that...

Didn't they just pass a law allowing firearms in national parks?

    Long term gun storage

TooTaxed, aren't Zip-Loc bags airtight? The last time I checked, the were. Were there holes in the bag where something sharp on a gun could have poked through? Did you squeeze all of the air out before sealing them? Seems like they should have worked just fine.

Hey, who let you out of the KTOG romper room, rcmodel? ;)

How safe are 1911's to carry cocked and locked?

Why can't it happen with a series 80 if someone is holding it properly when loading from a magazine? The thumb safety has to be off to rack the slide and the grip safety would be depressed. If the hammer follows down because it failed to lock back after chambering the top round, that firing...

    Are Wal-mart guns made cheap

Yeah, because gun shops are widely known for giving excellent customer service, right? How many threads have we read here and otherwise with people constantly b!tching about the horrible service they received at a gun shop?

A Christmas picture I e-mailed to everyone in my law firm caused a bit of a stir ...

Apparently, the guns in the picture were noticed and pointed out by some co-workers, who are probably anti-gun liberal hippies.

    Are Wal-mart guns made cheap

I love Wal-Mart! It's pretty much the only place we shop at besides grocery stores or needing something exclusive. Just too frickin' expensive to shop at most other stores, the mall, etc.

    My house was broken into..........

Claude, I've been in CT for almost 3 years and I've never heard of that. What day is it? Is it the same every year?

Can't believe that no one's brought up that the guy on the far right looks like he's doing a really BAD job of concealing whatever he has on his left hip. ;)

    My house was broken into..........

Nope, that won't work. The first quotation mark needs to be AFTER the = sign. Should be: COPY/PASTE TEXT Quote intentionally misspelled so it would not show as an actual quotation. That said, it's not really that great of a system because anyone can make anyone look like they said...

    Which 9mm for ccw?

DawgFvr, I will agree all day long that the G26 is a great pistol, but FOR ME, it's kind of like a red headed step child for concealed carry. Way too big/fat for any of my pockets and I can just as easily conceal IWB my G19, which has 5 more rounds. I sold my G26 but kept my airsoft one for...

    My house was broken into..........

(Bleeped by Art) Real high road right there. Believe me, I'll only call you/911 when I need medical assistance for the downed intruder(s)...or the coroner to bring body bags. I do NOT EVER rely on the police to protect me and my family due to the LONG response times in so many...

What exactly is an AK-47 Type?

The thing that does make me uncomfortable about owning anything "AK related" in CT is the definition of the AK-47 "type" is not actually written in the laws anywhere. The SFLU (state firearms and licensing unit) makes up the rules for that and the only place I've ever seen it in writing was in...
