    Is R-P brass junk?

I have had them all split at some time or another. I havent bothered to track what brand splits most. I do know that I have only had a few brass 38's split compared to the nickel brass. The nickel cases mostly slpit at the mouth from the belling and crimping, but around 30% of the bad cases...

I went with Hornady simply based on rep and price. Helps also that local shops carry nothing dillon related. I have had lots of issues...nothing I havent been able to figure out...but I have had a few frustrations.I know you already got rid of it but I think the problem was hornady didnt finish...

Henry lever: accurate with cast swc in 357 case but not 38 spl. Why??

They are two totally different loads. 357 was a sjhp 140 gn loaded at start load but still a 'magnum' load 38 was a lswc 150 gn loaded light for cowboy action out of a pistol. We will try loading some lswc in the magnum at mag pressures and 38's with the sjhp at 38 special pressures and...

Henry lever: accurate with cast swc in 357 case but not 38 spl. Why??

A friend of mine just picked up a Henry Golden Boy in 38/357. We shot only about 20 or so rounds through it 1st time out due to a mfg defect in the load ramp. Got it back and using 38 spl brass, it is shooting a group at about 50 yds that if your lucky would fit inside a 2 car garage door...

    How much cheaper to reload?

What no one has said here yet is this: No, you will not spend less. What you WILL do, is shoot a lot more for the SAME amount of money. Hairball

Do I need a Lee FCD for hot .45 colt loads?

I use the carbide 3 die set from RCBS and does an awsome job. I ONLY use the FCD for lead being loaded for an auto and requires a taper crimp, this is because the taper crimp will shave lead off bullet if you crimp and seat at the same time. The bullet should have a crimp cannelure for the roll...

    nickel cases?

The nickel cases resist tarnish etc and are easier to see in low ligh for chamber checks etc. The nickel cases are a little harder to size because they are harder than plain brass and have more friction than brass. My experience is that no the nickel cases will not last as long as brass...

Progressive Presses: Red, Green, Orange, Red again, Blue, any color I missed

Just to give you a heads up, the horny LNL shellplates are almost impossible to get right now. Hairball P.S. I have the LNL and love it, but have never used a Dillon. You probably will have to tinker and fuss with the LNL, I know I did, to make it run perfect. I have at max rate...

8X57 conversion to .458 REM Mag. possible???

I am not set in doing this. I have been thinking for a while what would be a cool round and just thought it might be cool to turn it into a cannon. I ended up with a 'jacked up' 7mm mauser from a guy at work because it was blowing cases apart. He had a hack sporterize it and they screwed it up...

8X57 conversion to .458 REM Mag. possible???

8X57 conversion to .458 Win Mag. possible??? I have a couple large ring 98 mausers in 8X57 and my smith says they are a great action to convert and I have been thinking for a while on what might be cool. I am now considering it after gunshow 'non-corrosive' ammo that WAS corrosive was fired...

    Melting lead - melter question

Def get the larger pot. As stated its recovery time will be faster and you spend more time casting than waiting for the temp to catch up.

    WHAT?!

I can honestly see both sides. I have a disabled daughter who can neither walk or talk and I absolutely would not take a chance on whether he was drunk, faking or anything else. But it would be an extremely bad day for me as I dont relish the thought of having to kill anyone for any reason. I...

What all loading manuals do you have in book form?

I prefer the Lyman Cast handbook, but thats because I mainly shoot cast. I find myself referencing all of them fairly often. I also use a lot of mfg co. load data. I have booklets from Winchester, Hogdon, Accurate etc that come real handy. I have not picked it up yet, but the Lee book seems...

I applied for my FFL you think ill get it?

The bus license from town is only good for a business IN town and would not cover me at my shop at home. I would have to get a place of business in the town limits to acquire one, which is wierd to me because they said I would have to have a bus license for town even if my business was out of...

I applied for my FFL you think ill get it?

Not trying to hi-jack this thread, but I have a question. I looked into an FFL about 6 months ago and gave up because I live in the county and not in town limits. The prob is the county does NOT require a business license which is fine but the licensing agency requires either a business license...
