Revolver Picture Thread of All Time

Victory at last!!! I just picked up this British Comtract WWII .380" (aka .38 S&W) S&W M&P "Victory" Model revolver this morning. The finish is a bit dodgy, but it is complete with numbers matching and the bore is bright and shiny. I have been wanting a Victory Model for some time now. I am...

Handgun for protection from a grizzly?

When I lived in Alaska, I only owned a single shot .22 and a Lee-Enfield No.4 Mk.I*, needless to say I took neither along whilst backpacking. I never did see a bear, Brown or Black anytime on the trail. Granted I was using fairly heavy traveled trails with many other backpackers and day hikers...

    The French don't ALL suck.

From what little contact I have had with people from France, they all seemed to be good people. After I finished Active Duty in the US Navy, I joined an Army National Guard unit for a bit and went to Kaislerslautern, Germany for a bit. A couple of members of my Company took a weekend trip to...

    Whats your favorite revolver?

Like other who have posted in this topic, I don't have just one favourite revolver. The first wo choices I have examples of, the last is something I hope to find someday soon. 1. S&W M&P/Model 10/"Victory Model" Revolver. Currently I have one 1960's era Model 10-5 with standard 4" barrel...

    Who loves the oddball chamberings?

Not sure if they count as odball?, but I have: .380" Revolver, Webley Mk. IV (aka .38 S&W) .577/.450", Martini-Henry Mk.II (which I have not yet fired). All my other calibres are fairly common, .22 Rimfire, .303", and .38 Special. Thanks Mark

    Inside America's Gun Culture

I did not watch the whole episode, but skipped over to it now and then. I got the impression that it was anti-firearm right off. The thing that frustrates me about people who are anti-fiream is most of the time they argue about firearms and firearm owners being sinister deals mainly with urban...

    Colt .38 N.P.

Hello According to my Speer Reloading Manual, it says that the .38 S&W was also known as the .38 Colt New Police. Hopefully that helps you out a bit. I don't know much about Colt revolvers, so I could be wrong, but I always thought the the Colt "Police Positive" was chambered for the shorter...

    Good revolver for a newbie?

A couple of people have mentioned the S&W Model 10 revolver. Yesterday I was at a friend's farm and I got to burn up 150 rounds through my mid-1960's S&W Model 10-5. After I got done shooting I was really grateful I have this revolver...it was a lot of fun to shoot, plus it is fairly accurate...

    Webley Mark VI questions

I take it that is a Webley & Scott Ltd. Mk. III? I would not mind having one of those someday. When were the Webley Mk. III revolvers (.380" cal, not the .455" Mk.III version) first made? I have a post-WWII Webley & Scott Ltd. Mk. IV .380" calibre. I really like it, want to have an actual...

Gun shop reviews while I stay in Anchorage AK

Also check out Turpin Guns, I THINK, it is off of Muldoon? Anyway it has been years since I have been there. Been in the lower 48 since 2002, so that tells you something (I really bloody miss living there). Anyway I bought my first centre-fire rifle at Turpin Guns. A Sporterized...

How Safe is Old Ammo To Shoot

I have two boxes of .303" Mk.VII Cartridges, one was made in England, the other is Canadian made, both are dated 1944. Both boxes are complete, so I intend to hang onto those as a collectable. Also have a WWII Japanese cartridge (7.7mm without rim) my Dad snagged off a shot down Zero on Guam...

How many .22's do you own?

Hello I have two. The first is my Stevens-Savage Model 15A single shot, first firearm at age 15. The other is a early 1970's Marlin (Glenfield) Model 25 Bolt action magazine rifle I bought this year for $100 (US). I have had fun with both, grateful to have them. Mark

How Safe is Old Ammo To Shoot

Hello I have burned up a few bandoleers of Belgian made (F.N.) .303" Mk.VII made in 1950, every round fired just fine, actually it was some of the best surplus .303" Mk. VII cartridges I have fired. Not one missfire or hangfire in the whole lot (150 rounds). I have (attempted to) fired...

Checked one off the long list yesterday...

That is one of the revolvers I am thinking about picking up for backpacking use in the future. I would be looking for a blue 4"-6" barrel with Square Butt Model 13. I have a S&W Model 10-5 standard 4" barrel already. Do I have this correct?, the Model 13 is basically a Model 10 only in...

    Another Vintage Holster.

Thank you for the reply. You were correct about it being for a good fit for a S&W K-Frame. My S&W Model 10-5 with 4" barrel fits perfect with just an inch or so "left-over". It just so happens that after Christmas I will picking up a WWII S&W "Victory" Model, a British version with the 5"...
