Can anyone explain Hornady's priming to me?

It does load the primer carrier with a new primer with each full down stroke. If you don't have a case in the shell plate it does no harm, the primer just sits there waiting until you push forward on the handle to seat it. If no case is present when you press the handle forward, nothing happens...

Neck Bushing size for 7mm WSM

I'm about to start loading in 7wsm and will be using the Redding Neck sizer die on Winchester brass. Would someone using the redding dies with Winchester brass please recommend a few bushing sizes to start with? Thanks, Unflappable

    Rifle for girlfriend

I have the same issue with my wife, she is small and while she is not overly sensitive to recoil it's still an issue. I bought her a Tikka T3 hunter in .308 (22" barrel) installed a recoil pad and downloaded the ammo for practice. I'm using 37 grains of H4895 pushing Hornady SST's in 150 grains...

Hornady LNL and Powder through expander question

PsychoKnight, if you have bullets that are .455 in diameter then this most certainly is a problem. I agree that for bullets that large that the Hornady Powder through expander die won't work. It's designed for .451 bullets, maybe up to .452. Maybe it is only designed for jacketed bullets as has...

What's your favorite casing in .308 Win?

I'm curious to know about the quality of the different brands of brass out there for .308 win, which work the best for accurate reloads? What's your favorite? thanks

    Need advice on LnLAP

In the setup as described, the "Powder Through Expander" goes in station #2 inside the powder drop, hence the note in parentheses (charge case). The RCBS Lock-out die is similar to the Powder Cop. It locks up the press if the powder charge is too little or too much. Saved my butt a few times.

    Need advice on LnLAP

I do the same as kludge also, but I use a regular taper crimp die instead of the FCD. Unflappable

Lets swap some brass, my 40 S&W for your 308 or 223

I have 1300, once fired, 40 S&W pistol casings. Hand counted, twice! These have been tumbled and inspected. They are commercial brass, about half are Winchester and the rest are well known brands, NO Amercs. No junk here, just good, clean, high quality brass. These were picked up at Frontsight...

Hornady LNL and Powder through expander question

In response to post #7, people having trouble with the powder thru expander probably don't really know how to use the LNL AP. Look at the picture in post #5, see where the bracket is attached to the threaded part of the powder drop? By simply moving this bracket higher on the threads it will...

Tikka T3 Hunter ring mounts any good?

Just bought a T3 Hunter and will need to mount a scope soon. Would some of you who have done the same please comment on the quality of the rings that come with the gun and the accuracy of their alignment? Do I need to buy a scope alignment kit for the Tikka? Thanks, Unflappable

    9mm reloading help with OAL

COL vs OAL Here's my interpretation of the difference... COL = the SAAMI specification for the maximum cartridge length for which the particular caliber gun is designed. The gun may not operate properly with ammunition longer than this. OAL= the length of the cartridge for a particular load...

Savage Top loading w/Hinged Floor Plate vs Detachable Box magazine?

Thinking about getting a Savage rifle for hunting and target shooting. Could someone give me the pro's and con's of the two available methods of loading from Savage? Thanks, Unflappable

9mm Powder (again) this is different.

Most of the questions about powder for 9mm Luger seem fairly generic, but I have some specific observations and questions. I'm fairly new to reloading and so far have only loaded 45 ACP. I've experimented so far with Clays (not Universal Clays) and Bullseye. I really like the way my reloads...

    What is your favorite scale?

Recently into reloading and went through this same decision. At first I was sure I didn't want a digital scale. I was planning to get a 10-10, but my wife has a multi thousand dollar scientific scale at work that measures fractions of a gram out to 6 digits and she made me some small check...

    Hornady ezject issue.

Here's a tidbit I learned during a conversation with the folks at Hornady... If something is out of stock everywhere, don't order it from Hornady because they will fill all the orders/backorders for the retailers first before filling any direct orders placed with them. So just put in a...

.45 cal 200 gr Berry Hp

I don't know about the reloading issue, but I have become a big fan of Tripp Cobra Mags. The stock mag and Wilson mag cause issues in my Kimber but my 2 cobra mags have been flawless. I'm ordering a rebuild kit from Tripp for my brand new Wilson magazine...
