I have owned and hunted with a .25/06 since 1969....
Currently using 80 grain Barnes TTSX to hunt whitetail deer with ... using RL17 to get 3680 fps out of my 22" barrel... wicked deer killer...
Place a 100 grain TTSX in the 6.5 Creedmoor..... run the velocity on up to 3150 fps .... Then you will have a pretty flat shooting deer killer with light recoil...
The 80 grain TTSX Barnes is a really good deer bullet in .243 Winchester and 6mm Remington.
Several of my fellow hunters and myself have had very good results...
Lots of deer between several of us using the .243 Winchester... we use the Barnes 80 grain TTSX... 3300fps ...deadly
My main deer rifle is the .25/06... which I also use the Barnes 80 grain TTSX... 3680 fps ...deadly... I just killed a nice 8 point weighing 193 lbs.... 15 steps he made ...
@jmr40 ... just went through the same sort of ordeal with prostate cancer.... I was able to do the robot type surgery in June...back hunting and cutting hay after six weeks...
Prayers that all works out ....so you can get that elk...
If you are concerned about the color...drop them in your tumbler for a short time .... I add a little wax in my corn cob....it will polish the bullets and the wax will keep them from tarnishing for a good while ...
Reason I asked was ... there are multiple grains weight bullets(copper) and styles in the same caliber...
I deal with Barnes ...there are TSX and TTSX... I don't care at all for the TSX... those seem not to expand like the TTSX will.
Then you have bullet weight... take .308 caliber ...the TTSX...
Mine looks just like post #4 photo ... minus the "C"....
I have a drop in 9mm barrel....
My 357 mags load 9mm just fine, but I have a bunch of Pmags for the 9s.
Gonna grab a used model 22 .40S&W barrel. Have a three cartridge pistol...
I shoot the 80 grain TTSX in .243 Win.... and the 80 grain TTSX in the .25/06... Both have been very successful in killing 200 lbs GA Whitetail with no problems... many DRT and most <20 yards....
I have a Yildiz O/U 20 gauge... been a good shooting gun ... zero problems .... several thousand rounds through it ...
I am sure it won't hold up like any of the "B" guns ... but I can buy three or four for the B guns prices ..
Been using it in the dove fields .... happy so far
The GMX are a nice looking bullet ... I can't remember the B.C. of the 80 grain .243.... I was unable to get a decent group with multiple work ups ...being limited in supply I did not shoot a lot of my RL17.... but tried several similar powders/COAL without success... I ended up finding 3 boxes...
According to Hornady they "softened" them up some ...but the results according to many accounts is the bullets are still "harder" than the TTSX in .243 caliber.... the TTSX are pure copper ...the GMX/CX is gilding alloy...
