I gotta try this - bump firing, with videos.

Bump Firing-Childsplay All the ingenuity and inventiveness to make a weapon fire like a FA artificially... When our wonderful, marvelous, BATFE can take a tie wrap, a shoelace, a little snot, and make a full auto machinegun out of a piece of used toilet paper.......Miracle of...

Need help planning a prairie dog hunt...How-To?

Plenty of good advice in the above posts.... I used to hunt the little buggers at my son in law's farm in the Texas Panhandle. I tried a scoped Ruger 10/22 but the shots were a little too far out. I also tried a Ruger Mod. 77 in .243 which was great. You can't get very close to the rascals...

    22mag or .17hmr?

I'm going to guess which one is easier to get cleaning patches for, is easier to get a patch and ramrod down the barrel & etc. Ammo is high for either. But I personally choose the .22Magnum...:p

Russian Made Brown & Silver Bear Rifle Ammo: Yea or Nay

Got some Brown Bear when I ordered my Golani from J&G Sales, it's soft point, seems more powerful and more accurate than black box wolf, and about as barrel fouling nasty as any russki ammo. But it was $200 some odd for a thousand.

    .22 rifle opinions please

Ruger 10/22 Gee, am really let down as to the supposedly inaccuracy of the Ruger 10/22 rifle. I have Dad's old one with a good Burris Scope installed and dang if I can remember anything I have shot at and missed. Within reason of course. Than I laid out some money for the Ruger 10/22 Magnum...

What do you all think about the Marlin lever action chambered for 357/ 38?

The son and I used shoot Cowbow Action and his rifle is.was a Marlin .357/.38 lever action. It has performed wonderfully as do all Marlins and fired reloads mostly. He is in the Army now and the rifle is stored here at home. I once had a Marlin .44 Nagnum lever action and it was fantastic.

Carrying a 1911 without the safety on?

Some are bolder than most of us. Some time ago in the Texas Ranger Museum, Waco, Texas, I saw an engraved, fancy Colt 1911 formerly owned by a Ranger. The grip safety was taped down and the trigger guard was cut away. His statement with the pistol stated something on the order of, "I had one...

Henry big boy .45 colt rifle

I have never handled or fired the Henry .45 LC rifle, but I do own a Winchester Model 92 in .45LC and it is a well made, accurate rifle. Somehow I have the feeling that the Henry rifle is cheaper made of less quality material. I hope that I am wrong on that.

    SKS Detachable Mags

I tried two or three real detachable SKS mags, you had to drill a hole and mount a clip that caught the front of the mag, none were worth their weight in camel dung. Got a thirty round, snout out in front that worked, some do some don't, thats what I use. I guess the big boys saying the...

    Golani .223/5.56 Are they Good?

I was notified that my order for a Golani had shipped to my FFL Dealer, My question is: Are they anything comparable to the M4 or Ruger Mini 14 I already have? My M4 will shoot circles around the Mini but how will the Golani be provided it isn't worn out junk?

Winchester 'sliding top' (mod. 62?) pump .22 question.

My Step-Dad's Model 02 he bought in 1926.t lived in the floorboard of a long line of pickups. Home on leave in 1953 I cleaned and lubed it, he never had. My daughter now has it and it still shoots good, shorts, longs, or long rifle cartridges. My wife has a Mod. 62, its like brand new as is...

The Greatest Battle Rifle Ever Devised

Elmer Keith didn't like M1 Garands, I saw women firing 03s at 1000 yds on the rifle range at MCRD in Korean War era doing better than we with M1s. The Guadalcanal Marines would have been better equipped with M1s than 03s but The big three, Roosevelt, Churchill, and Stalin cared less for the...

    .308 more than 30-06?

Time to enter the which is best, Ford or Chevrolet controversy. From the military viewpoint the .308 was developed for several reasons by the US Armed Forces. They are shorter rounds, you can carry more, and they are almost equivalent to the 30-06 in most instances. I have three '06s, a...

What's the general opinion about the Marlin Golden 39A?

Have owned two, very good, accurate and made of good US steel and wood. I did have a problem with one feeding cartridges, cured by replacement of an inexpensive part aft of the magazine tube on left hand rcvr when broken down. Simple fix, no further problem. Love the rifle.

    SKS Safety Spring

If some American craftsman/inventer would just invent a fool proof hi cap magazine that didn't have that ugly snout in front. I tried a couple that were designed without the snout and had a piece of spring like metal to hold the front of the mas...They weren't worth a darn.

    .223 reload problems

What Threefeathers suggested, using RCBS small base X dies. I had trouble with my reloads as described in a Ruger Mini 14, a Ruger Mod. 77 and in my Bushmaster M4. After I went to the RCBS small base X dies and trimmed the cases my extraction and sometimes even chambering problems went away.

So how about those 20rd Ruger Mini-14 mags they're finally selling....

Just rec'd 2 genuine Ruger 20 Rd. mags for my Ranch Rifle. I find that the bolt must be open before they can by locked in, sort of a similiar situation with my old SKS and its mags. They operate and feed fine.

22 lr conversion or upper for AR

I have a Ceiner .22lr conversion kit for my Bushmaster M4 and there are a couple of other conversions, like Spike. My rifle may not be as accurate with the conversion as my Ruger 10/22 but I hit what I aim at and can't tell any difference, Just takes a few secinds to convert from 5.56 to .22 and...
