This was built for me by John Gallagher back in the 90's. He shaped the stag grips for me too.

I went to the range today to mess around with my .375 Model 94 and my Interarms .243. I took along my 1/4 steel buffalo target that I use for rimfire shooting. With the rimfires I shoot away and at the end of the day hit the buffalo with some white spray paint and it's as good as new. Not so...

This is mine. Model 25-5; cut to three inches, ported, round butted, night sights. Pretty well done by an unknown gunsmith. I picked it up at a local gun show for $500 OTD. I love it.

I stumbled on my dream gun last year. $499 out the door. A S&W 25-5 .45 Colt. It looks to be a former 6 inch cut to a ported 3 inch, round butted with night sights. Unknown gunsmith. It would have cost me $1500+ to build this gun. At 15 yards it keyholes pretty bad with .452 SWC 255 grain...

The SAA has always been my assumption. Are you reading "The Ranger The Cook and the Hole in the Sky?" I love that story. The ranger, Bill Bell, was known to Elmer Keith. He mentioned Bell on page 130 of "Sixguns". I think that's pretty interesting.

I have one that I bought for $250 several years ago. It shoots better offhand than almost any rifle I have but it's worth less than nothing. It's a GREAT looking shooter in 30.06, which ain't bad for a $ deuce and a half. Do a quick Google search of National Ordnance and you'll get the stuff...
