Do you give you guns pet names?

I do the same thing. My M1A is 'Mia'; my M1 Carbine is 'Emmy'; my AR-15 is 'Arla'; my Mini-14 is 'Mini'; Colt 45 is 'Colten', etc., etc., etc. I'm not going to worry about it unless the guns start talking back. Then I'm in big trouble.:)

What would be a great arsenal (limit 5)

A 22LR rifle; a 22LR handgun; a .223 or .308 rifle, bolt action or semi, your choice; a 12 gauge shotgun, and one centerfire handgun, 38/357, 9mm, or 45 ACP caliber for ease of ammo.

the new(ish) H&K 416-what makes it so reliable?

This video sums it up for me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AGwkHktkTxU

    is a beta c-mag reliable?

I find my Beta-Mag to be very light, when empty. Of course, it is a little heavier with 100 rounds of 5.56 in it, but not appreciably so. It is, in fact, very well-balanced and ergonomic in my AR-15. I'm seriously considering getting one for the M14. Now, that's going to be a mite bit heavy...

Did I pay too much for my Colt?

I bought a like new, but used, Colt HBar during the panic in January. I think I paid $1200. Did I overpay? Yes, I think so. Was it worth it to me, at the time? You bet your sweet bippy it was. It is a great little rifle, it is a Colt, and I finally have a damn fine AR. We are'nt allowed to...

How to dispose of old ammo?

I disposed of 50 rotted paper shotshells just yesterday. Using pliers, I salvaged the lead shot, and threw the rest of the shell in the trash. They will be burned in our local garbage-to-energy plant. With the huge incinerators, ammo isn't even a blip on a radar screen.

Brink's home security commercials funny stuff

The alarm companies goal is to send all the soccer moms into a tizzy, and scare them into buying an alarm system, with monitoring, That will give them the peace of mind of false security. It is what it is. :scrutiny: Me, I'll stick to insured by Smith & Wesson, thank you very much.

    CCI 209m primers

You can substitute in a pinch. Both the Fed A and CCI M are 'hot' primers, best suited & used in heavy hunting loads, more so than skeet, trap, or light hunting loads. If used in light loads, just back off the powder charge a bit. Check your reloading manuals, but I'd be very surprised to...

    Urban Gorilla Hunt

Agreed. But they were not nearly as endangered in the 60's when the Ruger ad appeared. And, for all we know, the gorilla in the ad may have been a Lowland Gorilla, which may still number over 200,000 in number today. Habitat loss & poaching are the Mountain Gorillas major challenges today...

Chicago Law Banning Handguns in City Upheld

I expected nothing less from the die-hard, rabid anti-gunners. I swear to all that is Holy, that they breath different air. :cuss:

    Ruger AR-15

Me, too. But I can see where the present market dictates an initial introduction in 5.56. I've yet to figure out if it is a mil-spec in relation to swapping out uppers, and all that. (I'm assuming it is.)

Any speculation as to the super secret new Ruger gun?

Why would you want to stand in a line that long? :) Bill Ruger was a one-time maverick firearms innovator who morphed slowly into a stubborn, hubric, Old Fudd, who would'nt adapt with the times. Ruger, Inc. is now 20 years behind the times. They have a lot of catching up to do. The SR-556 is...

All time classic movie gun line.

It is also one of my favorite expressions, although I recall the line being, "I'll scatter your brains from here to White Plains."

ARIZONA gun laws and life in AZ?

I vacationed in Sedona, AZ, a couple of years ago, and I absolutely loved the place. The only thing I noticed that kind of bothered me, was the lack of personnal swimming pools in the town. Perhaps they are banned; I know not. Whilst summer is cooler in Sedona, it still gets well into the 90's...

Lead Bullets in Winchester Trapper .44 Mag

I run 200 & 265 grain SWC's through both a S&W 25-5 and Winchester Trapper in 45 'Long' Colt, at about 1,000 & 800 fps, respectively. Nary a lick of trouble or leading.

    New FN 308--FNAR

I'd say this sums it all up rather nicely. Why in blue blazes the folks at FN decided to throw a new proprietary magazine into the mix is anyones guess, but, IMHO, it was a mistake. A big mistake. I examined one at the gun shop a short time ago, and found the rifle exceedingly heavy, and...

    Opinions of Savage rifles?

I'm pretty partial to the the Savage 99 as my north woods brush rifle. I've found it to be rugged, reliable, and incredibly accurate. Aging, I've added a Leopold Vari-X II, 4X scope. I would'nt trade it for virtually anything. As a lad, I hunted through New York State's Adirondack Mountains...
