    Best Hunting Books You've Read

Darn near my list. I would throw in Rooselvelts books on hunting and Russell Anabels adventure series about Alaska (those are really great). I think Ruark's Horn of the Hunter is probably my favorite and the best written. Capstick is very very good though....

tell me about white oak uppers

White Oaks are some of the best - my DCM upper was a White Oak. Great attention to detail and a great guy to work with.

    6.5 x 55 Swede hunting load - favorites?

I will only be required to use lead free in Condor zones - so give me your pet loads for regular bullets. I plan on doing some hunting in Az and Il as well (I have relatives in both areas). Also since I'm using a new commerical rifle and will not be shooting these out of my Swede 38/96 I...

    6.5 x 55 Swede hunting load - favorites?

I'm going to start working up some loads for hog and deer. I'll hunt in California to start as an FYI. I have a Ruger M77 in 6.5 x 55 Swede. What grain bullet, loads, powder, etc. do you Swede guys like? 140 grain or should I go lighter? Thanks, Jeff

    Fitting a rifle stock

I've been told you rest the butt end against the "crook" of your arm resting the stock against your forearm and place your finger on the trigger. My question is that how much of your finger should ideally be on the trigger? To the first joint? More? Is it better to error on the long side...

how to cut a laminate stock?

I have an electric mitre/chop saw - I was planning on using that. Thanks for the tips. I figured it was plywood, but wanted to check before ruining a brand new stock. Jeff

how to cut a laminate stock?

I need to shorten a Boyd's laminate stock. Can I treat it as a wood stock, tape it, and carefully use a table saw? I'm assuming it's just like cutting plywood - just wanted to check if they had a tendancy to splinter or anything really crazy. Jeff

    "redneck assault rifle" for California

Number one rule - don't believe what you read on this or any site regarding california gun laws and what is allowed or not allowed. Calguns.net is probably the most solid foundation of non-web BS regarding Cal gun laws. Beware the FUD.

    Bill Jordan?

This is very interesting to me. Here is what "google" had. Frankly I cannot find any evidence that isn't on a forum that states it was Bill that fired the pistol. The San Diego fallen agent website has this: Patrol Agent John A. Rector End of Watch: October 16, 1956 United States...

Marlin XS7 vs Marlin XL7 vs Stevens 200

In my neck of the woods (Cali) every military caliber is sold out nearly everywhere. There is no "surplus 308 or 30-06" to be had cheap anymore. In fact the ONLY rifle caliber normally in stock at the local Walmart is 270. They are almost always out of 30-06 and 308 - they occasionally have...

    This is NOT good

If you don't have an insurance company to deal with you can go anywhere you please. I have a PPO so I can go to PT prior to a doctor. I've been to a couple PTs - they were both great. I would find a sports PT - I think you'll have better luck with the type of injury you have. Jeff

    This is NOT good

I would avoid surgery at all costs. I had ankle surgery TWICE in one year to first repair then replace (when the repair failed) a tendon. It sucks - big time. I'm still not 100% and it's been 9 months. It will probably be a year + before I'm close to normal. I realize ankles and much...

Man carrying assault weapon attends Obama protest

Define an assault rifle? It's different depending on the state and since there is no federal ban the term is meaningless unless you are an anti (or you live in the oppressed state of California).

    Lee enfield vs garand

Garand. First they are too much fun to shoot, they are accurate, they reload very fast, and there is NOTHING better then the ping.
