This thread is for those who may be looking for a Muzzle Brake with no holes in it (end cap) for a S&W 460.
I tried to find a 460V end cap at the Smith and Wesson website and didn't have any luck. I've been looking for a while with no luck. I emailed S&W and got this response.
Dear...
I use Eezox for all my firearms. It is a CLP and it dries completely. You don't want to use oil that remains liquid because it will attract dirt. Also, Eezox beats all other CLPs in independant tests for inhibiting rust.
The Winchester 94/22 is one of the best made lever action 22s ever. The Marlin 39A is in the same league. The Winchester 490, mentioned above is a very well made (Canadian Cooey) semi auto rifle. You don't find semi autos with steel receivers and walnut stocks very often.
I say the M1 Garand, even though I believe that the Garand should have been built to use the existing BAR mags that were arounds almost 20 years before the Garand was adopted. Browning was way ahead of his time.
Phoenix is the 5th largest city in the country by population and it is very gun friendly. They have the Ben Avery Shooting Facility in Phoenix and it is 1640 acres of State Land that is for the Shooting sports. CMP holds the Western Games there every October. The last NRA Convention was there...
For people who like mechanical items, high quality firearms are something to admire and cherish. They are like fine pieces of art. The craftsmanship that went into building them is worthy of admiration.
The first thing you need to decide is whether you want a "safe" or a "locker".
Check out this video of what I call a "locker".

I have used Eezox since the late 1980s and it has been the best overall product that I have ever found. It covers all of my regular firearm needs. Breakfree has a nice CLP, I just don't like it as much as Eezox.
Texasred, I think your first idea of a .243 is the best for a 14 year old girl. It will actually last her the rest of her life and it will take down more than you are giving it credit for.
Good luck with your decision and happy and safe hunting to you and your sister.
Eezox is the best CLP that I have found and I have been using it since the 1980's. Breakfree will work well, but not as good as Eezox. Pick the finish you want, I prefer Hard Chrome when available and then I clean all of my guns with Eezox.
I don't think that running +P loads for defense will hurt anything, but I don't run them regularly through my .38 Diamondback. Remember, the Diamaondback is nothing more than a glorified Detective Special.
I could be wrong, but I think that serial numbers were required by the GCA (Gun Control Act) of 1968. As I remember history it was a political reaction to the assassination of RFK and MLK.
Eezox is one of the best rust preventative CLP products made. I have been using it since the mid to late 1980s and I have never found anything better. Try some Eezox and quit worrying about your mags.
