    Forming brass to fit chamber

Lets say for example I choose to form 8X57 Mauser from .30-06 brass. At one time I acquired an Arisaka Type 99 with excessive headspace. I was instructed to thread my sizer die fully into the press then back the die off one full turn. I was then instructed to size/set my shoulders and attempt to...

    Loads fo 8x57 Mauser

Ive been toying with a M24/47 recently. If you check Graf and Sons you can find PRVI 198 FMJBT's at a decent price and shipping is prompt. They mirror the projectiles I pulled from Yugo 1950's 8mm duds. They shoot pretty well, maybe not as well as the Hornady 196 match bullets Ive seen...

    .30-06

For most of my recent deer hunting(last 6 years) Ive used a Model 70 stainless w/BOSS. I shoot 61 gr(approach with caution!) RL-22 under a 180 Partition, all wrapped up in Winchester brass and sparked by CCI 200's(BR2's in my case, as at the time that was all I could get.) Prior to that I used...

    Lyman 8X57 Mauser dies

I recently purchased a century M24/47 Mauser. I purchased a set of Lyman FL dies only to find out that the neck expander ball sizes to .323??? exactly what size my PRVI 196FMJBT bullets are. What size smaller expander would you folks recommend? Neck tension is nill and I prefer to not crimp with...

    Sporterizing 1903

I have a 1.4 million 1903 nickel steel action that is going through the sporter process. I'm currently having a one piece Redfield base installed and a Brownells ruger style bolt handle. Id like to use a B&C carbilite stock and have a few questions. The stock is inletted for an '03A3 which id...

    1903 Springfield Action

I have recently purchased a 1,415,3XX 1903 action for use in a future custom rig. This action is well within the nickel steel production but the bolt marking are of question for me. The bolt has a swept handle and is marked BF 46. I'm far less concerned with originality(and price too I guess)...

    a simple die question

I have many sets of bottleneck rifle dies. I regularly see "body dies" in neck sizer dies sets for sale locally(used of course). This may seem simple but when I set my FL sizer die to "neck size" it both neck sizes and slightly body sizes as well. I own neck sizer dies for almost every set of FL...

    45-70 favorites

24 gr of XMR 5744 under a 405 gr MPS hollow base, starline cases and sparked with a CCI 200. I shoot this out of a 1886 Springfield cadet model with really nice results and easy clean up.

    Suggested loads for .22-250.

My semi custom Ruger .22-250AI with its original 1-14 barrel loves 52gr SMK's over 39grs of IMR 4064 sparked with CCI BR2's. Ive recently toyed with WS2 coated bullets with mixed sucess but thats another topic in itself. Ive had equally pleasing results with these components in standard .22-250...

    R22 Nosler load data

I have only matched their RL22 loads in .30-06 w/180 Accubonds with my minimum chambered M1999 w/25" bbl. With my 24" barrel Winchester classic stainless they averaged 35 FPS slower. RL22...at least in .30-06 is normally a god send for 180's. I like Winchesters discontinued WXR which is very...

Reloading .45 GAP without glock related issues

Ive recently bought myself a Glock 37 in .45 GAP. I have at my disposal WSPM primers and a few pounds of power pistol. The only bullets I can find locally are zero brand 230 gr FMJ's. Lyman has data but they utilize Win cases and WSP primers behind speer bullets. I guess my question would be...

    Reloading w/armor piercing bullets?

And yes they developed the new "Enchanced" sapi because the steel core 7.62x54R bullets were penetrating our point blank vests with regular "M80 Ball spec" sapi plates. Damn dragunovs and pkms.

    Reloading w/armor piercing bullets?

Look at Military spec and chrono them to their velocities, thats should lead you down the road of best ballistic performance.....and the legal matter is on you. Ive hit many hard targets with AP/API/M855 rounds in the service and never noticed a "right back at me shot" sounds like pac man haha...

    bumping the shoulder back?

+1, I use my 7.7x58 FL die as a neck size/body die every 4th firing. I have no problems getting 10+ firings out of a batch of casings. Leave the shoulder where its at to avoid case stretching.

    Thoughts of loading .30-30

Did that quickload data get processed with non magnum primers? We'll see today if cci 200 work in this fairly small case with ball powder, I might try a few of these other powders on Friday. Thanks gentleman!

    Thoughts of loading .30-30

I've got a long overlooked Winchester 64 lever gun and quite the collection of once fired r-p brass. While reading some of Waters pet loads I found mention of AA2520 and I happen to have a pound that's going nowhere right now. I'd like to shoot Hornady 170 flat noses, any thoughts or advice...

6.5X55 Lee FCD for 256 Newton

Would it be possible to use a 6.5X55 Lee FCD die for my 61mm 256 Newton cases? I peered up my .30-06 FCD and can't see any shoulder and figured I could adjust the die up a bit and crimp my 256 rounds. Thoughts?

    256 Newton load data

Ive got a custom rifle in a boring caliber so I figured Id switch things up a bit. I originally opted toward the .30 Newton but with its odd case head diameter(.525) I figured it to be too much of a pain. 256 brass is easily formed as I have just learned with my new set of dies and 270 brass. I...
