    M1 gas lock too tight

Fulton Armory, I believe, sells a gas lock wrench. They are around $15. IIRC. I have one for my M1A, they work really well. When reinstalling the lock I go hand tight and then just a bit more. They are not supposed to be that tight. You are supposed to be able to remove them in the field...

    1911 - Break-In Ammo?

I have a High Standard G.I. 1911, using Wilson 47D mags it will eat any kind of ammo I feed it. I just can't say enough good about them. All the guns I carry have Wilson's, period. That's just me. When I find something that works I stick with it religeously.

    1911 - Break-In Ammo?

It's all good, just put some rounds downrange. IMO breakin is about getting the parts to seat properly by cycling the action. Shoot it a bunch (3-400 rds) cleaning and lubing every hundred or so, and you'll be good.

Steel cased & misc. surplus ammo in FALs

Amen, to that, have never shot steel cased ammo in any gun I've owned, minus of AK's and an SKS. I also own a Century inch pattern L1A1, really neat variation of the FAL. Mags are a bit more expensive, otherwise a solid performer.

Steel cased & misc. surplus ammo in FALs

Been the proud and happy owner of a DSA SA-58 since '98. I have shot all the surplus 7.62 I could lay my hands on through it. Minus the MG ammo and Indian. Never had a problem of any kind, it eats everything I feed it without a hitch. Curiously, I find that Federal Gold Medal Match ammo produced...

    AR-15 flash suppressor tightenin

According to AMU (Army Marksmanship Unit) specs, do not torque the flash hider. Get yourself some red Loctite and leave off the crush washer. Hand tighten the FH until properly timed, then allow to "set up" overnight. Torquing the FH onto the barrel stretches the barrel threads and screws up...

    M1 Tanker

The price is a little steep, IMO. They want $800. however they have a 30 day money back warranty on all used guns, if you don't like it for whatever reason bring it back in the same condition in less than 30 days and recieve a complete refund.

What optics and mount on your AR flat top?

I have a trijicon Reflex mounted on my Rock River flattop. It will hold a three inch group at 100m and five inches at 200m. Simple, effective, reliable. Your mileage may vary.

    Quick ? for NH residents

Yes, vs the "diminished capacity" mags we were stuck with during AWB-I and the same ones that will probably be crammed down our throat if AWB-II passes.

    Rock River Owners Check In

I own 4 AR's, 1 Colt, 2 Bushies and a RR. I love the RR and am waiting on their midlength .308 carbine. All the AR's I own have RR two stage match triggers. It's the best trigger on the market, bar none. The RR AR is a 20" free floated flattop. Trijicon Reflex mounted on the rail.

    AR-15 gunsmithing question

IF YOU'RE SURE that it is legal to install then in Idaho, then yes. It requres removing the barrel and milling down to the proper diameter, then threading the barrel. You should be able to get it done locally fairly cheap. Later.

Maine right to carry law threatened

This isn't rocket science, it's comon sense. People with little or no training, who are uncomfortable carrying a firearm, should recieve some form of training. Whether it's from a friend or a professionalsource is irrelevent. It's the quality that's important. Should this training be mandatory...

Maine right to carry law threatened

Amen, Vern. Maine native here, born here, lived here for 53 of my 54 years. In the last 5 years we've had exactly 7 CCW self defence shootings in the whole state. All 7 were investigated by the AG's office, all 7 were deemed justified. It is not the wild west that these people infer. Where is...

Maine right to carry law threatened

There is a gentleman in So. Maine who puts on the NRA "personal protection in the home" class. He is now the only person in the entire state certified to teach the NRA "personal protection outside the home" classes. The inside the home class runs about 10 hours and costs $75. to $80. The outside...
