    all around shotgun?

If you want a pump in 3 1/2", Look at the Mossberg 535 combo. We sell them for under $400.00, and has synthetic stock, all Mossy Oak, 22" turkey barrel w/ xxfull choke, and 26" field bbl with chokes. Can't beat that. Plus if you really want to go one-gun, you can get a matching rifled slug...

    More remington 870 questions

Both are good. The Maverick is a "Mexican Mossberg", and takes most of the accesories that will fit a Mossberg 500. Differences are the forend is pinned to the action bars, and forends can't be changed, and it doesn't have the safety on the receiver tang. Receiver is not drilled for rail, also.

    Kassnar-Churchill O/U problem

I have a customer that has a Kassnar-Churchill single trigger O/U 12 ga. that missfires on occasion. The trigger "clicks", but it doesn't fire. I have not looked at it yet, but he has taken it to other competent gunsmiths, and it came back, and worked for about 50 shots, then started randomly...

best place to buy shotshell components?

Keep in mind that shipping powder or primers will incurr an additional $25.00 HazMat charge. Primed shells are exempt.

Aguila mini shells...inconsistent, or just bad luck?

They can flip around in a pump shotgun, if you don't cycle them carefully. I load 2 1/4" shells, which are a little longer, and cycle better. Still load 1 oz. of 00 Buck. Nice part is you can get an extra round in the mag, instead of 2 3/4" shells. 6+1 without the plug.

    1911 DIY gunsmithing

I would recommend AGI for good DVDs, or Jerry Kuhnhausen's the Colt .45 Automatic Shop Manual Vol. 1 for a good book. It will tell him what he should be able to handle on his own, and what he should stay away from.

    scope ring lapping ???

I use a Wheeler lapping bar, and go for 60% to 80% contact. I don't believe you need 100% to get good, sound support. Instead of using the handle that screws into the side of the bar, I've been considering drilling and tapping one end and installing a shaft, that I can chuck up into a drill...

shotgun barrel dent removal at home with pictures.

I was always taught that a dent can be fixed safely, but a buldge should never be fixed, since the metal has been stretched, and will be weak if moved back into shape.

    Scope Mounting question-stevens 200

Remove the bolt, set the rifle on something solid, and sight through the bore. See if the crosshairs are close to the spot the bore is "seeing".

DuraCoat or Engine paint & sand/bead blast vs sanding

I use aluminum oxide to blast in a cabinet I got at Harbor Freight. They have these units (I got the floor model for just over $100.00) on sale periodically. The larger one will easily hold a barreled receiver. I use an automotive touch-up gun to spray DuraCoat, with a vented tabletop spray...

Purchasing first shotgun tomorrow, few questions

I have not seen an oversize safety for the Maverick, but there is one for the Mossburg, which has a tang safety, not the crossbolt safety of the Maverick. Nothing wrong with a Maverick. You can't get a magazine extension for Mossburg 500s or Maverick, however, there is a Maverick with a 20"...

    dormant revolver

Pachmyer makes a nice rubber grip for this pistol that tames the recoil, but is bulky for CC. Don't use +P ammo for target shooting. Regular ammo will be easier on you, and make the gun last longer.

    Welding a rifle barrel

Look at the rest of the gun. Poor condition. With all the deals out there, why would anyone want that one? Maybe for parts, but not at that price.

+1 on what was said. I also swear by TapMajic as the cutting oil used.

    clear coat for receiver

DuraCoat also has a clear finish. I've used it over some two-tone jobs to even out the finishes. You can make it glossy, or matte depending on how far you spray it from the gun.

    Ruger Revolver Trouble

That's one of the things I had to learn about DuraCoat. You must plan your spray pattern so you don't get too thick in critical spots. Other than that, I do like DuraCoat.

Is there a way to get paint off a synthetic stock?

I refinished a Maverick 88 that had a poor home-made camo paint job, and I blasted it, then used DuraCoat on it. It came out nice, and kept the detail on the stock and fore-end. I used Alox at a distance, but I think glass bead would be better, and keep a smoother surface. (I didn't have...

Steel shotgun slugs? From Latvia? Dupleks...

I don't think it will wear a barrel, it looks like it has a plastic gas seal, and a plastic collar toward the front to prevent the steel slug touching the barrel.
