Well you're right you can't read the manual until you've purchased the gun. It's just that I and most gun owners I know research the prospective purchase before laying down the cash.

I don't understand why everyone is whining about the SIG being picky on ammo. The MANUAL says to use CCI...everyone should've known that before they purchased it. Then if you knew it, why would you try to get by with something cheap?

I just bought one last week and took it to the range for the first time yesterday. I absolutely love mine. I did have 1 mis-feed out of 200 rounds of CCI mini-mags. I use the CCI b/c that is what SIG recommends. I also found the gun to be very accurate out of the box.

I'm glad you're ok and the plan was foiled. But for comic relief....I find it so funny when someone says "I almost died today....." yet they don't even have a scratch on them. But seriously, glad nothing happened and everyone else summed up the valueable post I had.

I certainly wouldn't go and buy that gun for the sole purpose of home defense. A .45 or 410 would both work out, but get at least 3-4 rounds out of it before having to reload. But, as everyone said...if that's all you have....by all means use it!

Being an Illinois resident, I've often wondered the same thing. I think there is only 1 other state that requires FOID cards. Mainly IL as a state is anti-gun. Why don't we have CCW?
