To frange or not to frange?

I would move and avoid the situation.

    Finally ... got me a Marlin 1894CSS (.357 Magnum)!!

Very nice rifle, congrats! I got the .357 Cowboy II a while back. Great fun gun. Why did you want to order all of the extras before the gun got home. None of it is needed at all except the better open sights.

Passing of the Torch - Deer Rifle

Short barrels never did anything for me. I like 22 to 24 inchers. I would sell a gun and get what I want before I would spend money to cut a good barrel back. I would never buy one if I knew the barrel was cut. That is just me.

    .308 vs. .300 Savage

Your whole post reeks of dissatisfaction. Sell that ugly Browning and get something that you are excited and proud to post about!

The buckhead is unique, don't see that every day. Tastefully done.

    Any .41 Magnum Fans?

Learned something new tonight. I did not know that the .357 Mag is a better man stopper than the .41 Magnum. It is a good thing that I still have Dad's fine stainless Security Six. I am still gonna keep my stainless 7 1/2 inch .41 Redhawk, the 6 inch S&W 57 and the extremely accurate .41 cal...

    cleaning the bolt assembly.

To answer your question maybe every other year or so, unless you get caught out in the rain or snow. Just a good wipe down with cleaners and a Q-tip in the face of the bolt will do. It is a well sealed unit. More often will not hurt a thing.

Glad I found this thread. I usually live on the Marlin Owners site. This one should be fun. I'll start off with a 1951 Model 336 in .32 Special. It shoots good jacketed and loves my 184 grain cast load.

1 in 8 gets my vote also.

    Best 44 Mag Lever Gun?

I too have one of these 77/44s, one of the most disgustingly inaccurate rifles I ever owned. I had Bullberry rebarrel it with a varmint weight barrel and now it shoots OK, not the one inch they guarantee. It is now one of the most expensive rifles I own and can not afford to sell it, but I like...

    .44-40 Carbine

Your rifle is obviously a modern gun, but what must be determined is if it is a replica of a Win 94/92 or an older, weaker style like the Win '66 or '73. Most/some loading manuals have loading data for Type I or weaker actions like the '66s and '73 and data for Type II stronger actions such...

Back off the load. Is your 1885 new/modern or vintage?

    Proper neck tension

If the projectile pushes in that easily then the fault is in the sizing die/expander plug. The crimper might not solve that one.

    9mm LRN .356 or .357?

.356 is the correct size. Going larger might bulge the case to the point that it will not chamber properly

    reloding for 7-30 waters

I use 2 bullets and one powder in my 7x30 Waters. 100 grain Hornady HP over 40.0 grains of 748 powder and the 140 Ballistic Tip over 34.0 grains of 748. The 100 grainers worked great on a Pdog hunt, 200 yards or less. The 140 BTs worked well on white tail deer. Their accuracy is awesome. To fire...
