Do paper towels such as Bounty scratch gun finishes?

I use the 18 pack of washcloths from Wally World, $3.23 a pack here. Wash them and they are great for cleaning the wood and metal and have never scratched anything yet.

commercial mauser action for a build?

LGS, can a 7x57 be built on this Yugo action? All I can find locally are Mauser actions in very poor to poor condition and I want to build a pair of father/daughter rifles in 7x57. Thanks Darryle

    new ar15 build question??

Google AR bolt carrier differences, to determine which carrier style you have, an AR15 style can be considerably lighter than a M16 style and cause excessive bolt speed also.

    Final questions for 300blk build

Before you go discounting the parts you have, barrel and bolt, you may be surprised at their accuracy out of the box, especially since they are a matched set. Spend your money on a trigger, forend and other goodies, the round isn't known for inherent accuracy to begin with. For sub 200yds...

BCM AR Accuracy Woes Caused By Muzzle Brake ?

I pulled the threads using a crush washer on a 1/2-28 threaded barrel once, never use them now. I use low strength loctite and a peel washer. I had to have the barrel cut and crowned to fix it. According to Harrison Beene, there are crush washers that are over hardened and cause problems.

Anybody have a rifle or knows where one is that shoots these?

From the looks of it, it would be ideal for use in a converted percussion revolver or a revolver premanufactered to accept them.

best recoil pad for big bore rifle ?

The angle of the recoil pad face in relation to the bore. If the angle is wrong, it will cause the heel or toe of the pad to dig in first. You want the entire pad sitting firmly and evenly on your shoulder. Think of it like trying to walk a mile on just your heels or toes, it won't take long...

best recoil pad for big bore rifle ?

You can buy a concave Kick-Eze, that is probably one of the best pads going. They are a little harder to grind, as you probably know, but the Sorbothane is awesome once fitted. Have you compared pitch on the two rifles?

custom Benelli work = poor cycling

Glad you got it going. I have an M2 that I bought cheap, it took a trigger assembly to fix it right. Some people weld these without disassembling the trigger group and it has caused issues, especially if they got it to hot. I tried a new carrier, help a little, but was still very unreliable.

    Saving serial numbers

SD card in the wallet, one in the garage and another in the safe deposit box. Excel spreadsheet format, but I also keep a log of each and every sale also, with a scanned copy of the bill of sale or buyers pertinent information. I had one stolen that the buyer failed to have this information, it...

custom Benelli work = poor cycling

Look at the base of the failures, are they slightly buckled? Now look at the extractor markings, to determine the orientation in the chamber. Black marks a lot the bolt head, see if it is removing the black uniformly, slightly polish the head until you notice it smoothly extracting and going...

custom Benelli work = poor cycling

Chamfer the chamber in the 12-3 o-clock area, there are no longer any "fingers" to guide the shell home.

Well, technically you're correct. I call it triangular based on the basic shape. It isn't round, like the majority of forends out there.

I put the Seekins SP3R on my last hunting rifle. It is triangular and actually feels good in the hand, but excellent off ledge, fence post or rested against a tree, feels reel solid.
