Dan Wesson Pointman Minor opinions and price?

I have a DW 1911 and a SA GI 1911. Both are great guns and get the McNutt stamp of approval, but the DW is a much more refined gun. I bought my SA as a gun I could customize and it should be good for that. But that DW Minor should be just as good for customizing and probably won't feel as...

    P99 Question!

Yeah, that's the Anti Stress trigger. Hard first pull (to avoid accidental stress pulls) followed by lighter subsequent pulls.

    Rant: Mushy 1911 thumb safeties!

I have two new 1911s that have incredibly crisp thumb safeties. They aren't going to accidentally disengage and there is an audible snap when disengaged. The only problem I have is that one of my safeties is the GI stubby kind and it hits right in my thumb joint. I'm going to replace it with...

Ruger P90TH... any thoughts or experience

I liked the one I rented qute a bit. It's not pretty, that's for sure, but it's a solid gun.

    My 1911 died today

I always thought they were the ones that did get grip safeties right.

Kimber's 1911 grip safety is FUGLY!

I ground the grip safety down on my Dan Wesson Patriot. I hate all grip safeties with the bump at the bottom as I find they make shooting uncomfortable. My SA GI has the old-style Colt grip safety that fits flush with the grip when held and it works just fine.

Seemingly poor accuracy test shipped with pistol.

In that case the target looks fine.

Seemingly poor accuracy test shipped with pistol.

I would definitely be concerned if this was an Ed Brown factory target sheet. If shot at 25 yards offhand it's not that bad, but to be so dang high? He's practically hitting the target clamps there. You'd think the factory shooter would be accustomed to the gun/sights by now.

    Flashlight Review: Amilite Neo T3

It's amazing how addictive flashlights are. I have a Surefire and I'm trying to wonder why I feel compelled to buy another expensive flashlight. Good looking shots.

    CZ P-01 vs. Sig P226

I've decided that my next gun will either be a CZ P-01 or a Sig P226. I've never fired the P-01, but I have a CZ 75 and think the feel of the gun is great. It fits my hand like a glove. I've fired a P226 and thought it was the best 9mm I've ever shot. My dilemma is that I can probably scrape...

Best 1911 for 1000.00 or less

I think the idea that 1911's are hit or miss is pretty overblown. Every gun has its quirks and the 1911 is no different. You hear so much about the 1911 because they're so common. I own two 1911s and have had exactly one failure and that was on a new hollowpoint I was trying.

Best 1911 for 1000.00 or less

My Dan Wesson Patriot ran me $650 new a few years ago. It has been flawless so far (~ 2000 rounds) and it very accurate. I shot a Kimber Gold Match once that I would say was as nice as my Patriot, but I think they run a little over $1000.

    Trading kahr for glock

If the gun isn't for carry, than the most important thing is, other than reliability, how much fun you have shooting it. I don't think you're going to really like a gun that feels like a 2x4 in your hand. Glocks are good guns, but I have a feeling you'll tire of that grip if it feels that way...

Pic Request...:D (Rear sight of a Springfield GI)

I have to really concentrate to line up the sights on my GI. I've thought about replacing them, but since this was bought as a carry gun and I doubt I'll be making too many long-distance shots I'm holding off on the new sights.

    Weapons Light Options-92FS

I have a Surefire light that isn't attached to a rail, but is one hell of a lot. With very little practice you can easily work both your light and your gun. Personally I like being able to grab the light next to my bed and shine it into the hallway without having to aim my gun.

    I am not a fan of 1911s.

    1. SA Only - For me this is a major plus. SA gives me the quickest and most accurate shot. I love the consistent trigger pull I get with a 1911. You say that the thumb safety gets deactivated too easily, but I'd say you don't have a good thumb safety. 2. Manual safety - I can understand...

What to carry - CZ75 or 1911 Govt?

I don't feel like I need to be armed seven days a week. If you feel that way then more power to you. I'd like to have the option of carrying when I feel so inclined.

    old vs new

The newer guns you mentioned are all good guns. While I prefer the 1911, my wife might not remember to disengage the thumb safety if she had to use it in self defense. She doesn't have to worry about that with the other three.

    First autoloader

The CZ fits my hand almost perfectly, but I found the Sig 226 to have an incredible trigger for a SA/DA gun. Of course nothing, and I mean nothing, beats a 4lb trigger on a 1911.
