"ya take all the fun out of it when i can't include artillery,
.45/70 marlin, 145 yds iron sight, 350 gr"
Some might argue that the .45/70 is an artillery piece.....!
My Uncle made the landing at Normandy. He passed away a few years ago...Sorry to hear about your loss. Everday we lose more of the colorful bootstrap generation and the world is a lesser place for it.
Get a rear sand bag to rest the buttstock of your carbine on and learn how to properly use it for adjusting your windage and elevation while shooting. A good front rest and rear sandbag will be a big help in eliminating shooters error. Something like the ones in the links below will be a good...
Cold Steel sells a Boar Hunting Spear just for said purposes. I'd do it if and when I had to. Probably not just for the sport of it.

When asked why they shot the Cop Killer/Bad Guy 68 times. Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd, told the Orlando Sentinel: 'Because that's all the ammunition we had.
Sounds like this would make a good signature line quote.
I was looking very seriously at the Stag 2T and on the day I went to actually order one the dealer had just recieved two LMT Defender 2000's in the store. I paid $200 more for the LMT and haven't had a single regret with it. With 1800 rounds through it so far I have had no failures.
my two fav builds
The 10/22 has a Shilen Match Bbl. I butchered the stock myself and worked the trigger over. The best group I ever shot with this rifle measured .588" center to center for 5-shots at 100yds.
The Lil Red Marlin is a Youth Model 15YN that I built to teach kids with. It has a...
Past Recoil Shields are very effective. Don't do the Death Grip thing or weight the rifle down as this will change your POI on the scopes zero when you go to shoot in the field. It's all about form. Find a comfortable shooting position and don't try to fight the recoil. You'll soon find that...

Hard Fouling
I have been reading this thread and haven't seen anyone post any concerns regarding hard fouling? Years ago I got ahold of some Speer plastic indoor practice bullets for .45 ACP. These fired from standard casings using just a primer for power. Inside every box of these was a...
Ransom Rests
Most Handguns are accuracy tested from a device called a Ransom Rest. If you are not familiar with one just follow the link below. The Firearm is clamped tightly into the device aimed via the adjustable legs at the base and then fired with a trigger linkage to eliminate human...
Of all the Handguns I have ever owned my wifes two favorites have been my 4" Colt Diamondback .38 Spl, and my .44 Mag Ruger SuperBlackhawk with 7 1/2" Bbl and 3X Burris.
She shoots both very well and other than her Rem 870 12 Gauge is her personal favorites.
I frequently use Rem 7 1/2 Small Rifle Benchrest primers in pistol loads. The BR primer has a more consistent burn rate and temp and are ideal for use in higher pressure Max loads. I started this when loading for a .38 Super I had. I found these to work extremely well for H110, 2400 and other...
Yep, I have seen this many many times with .38 Special....One of the big pluses for this paticular round. Even with hotter +P velocity loads you will have minimal trimming issues.
Mag Primers are a little harder and do burn hotter... They are also used alot where temperatures will be in the sub zero range. As always when you change any component back down 10% and work your way back up in .5 grain increments and you will be fine with them.
the Nose Knows
Take a good hard smell of the powder and see if it has a very acrid smell or not. Powder that is too old and going or gone bad will often have a very different smell to it...It will leave a slight burning sensation in your nasal cavities. If so....burn it by pouring it out on...
