    Making shoot and see targets

I haven't heard of this in years, but it's probably still around. India ink. It's a flat black, brush on coating. When we were kids, we'd cover a piece of paper with different colored crayons, then coat with the ink, let dry, then scratch designs in the ink allowing the crayon color to show...

    Just for fun.

Revolver. I tend to think of a Ruger Security-Six. Probably because it was my first carry gun back in the early '80s, and still have one handy.

    Inexpensive Truck Gun

A M&P 9 at a well known on line retailer runs $479. Or, 2 3/4 Times the cost of a new Hi Point .45 A used one runs about $389. About 2 1/4 Times the cost of a new HP. The OP stated an inexpensive truck gun. I wouldn't leave a $400-500 gun in y vehicle full time. A $175 one? A better choice...

Golden Sabre serious lack of quality control Updated!

A potent reminder that you should visually inspect every round that you load. I learned when my Sig had a failure to chamber incident. Pulled the round and discovered the casing was egg shaped instead of round! All kinds of mistakes get past qc when your punching out millions of pieces at...

    Armslist: how to avoid flakes

^^^A little negation in sales is ok if the ad doesn't say "firm" but I'd also never show up to a sale and denigrate the guys gun. Good manners always count.

    Armslist: how to avoid flakes

About the only things I'd have done differently is 1 Just say "no id, we go no further" 2 At the buyers first comment about the beavertail fit, I'd just say politely "ok, you won't be happy with this gun, thanks for your time", get in my truck and leave. I'm to old to argue with the...

    Inexpensive Truck Gun

A couple of points, here. For the gun, I'd go for the Hi Point, although I'd step it up to the .45 cal. They are absolutely reliable and affordable. The last I saw about 2 months ago, the 45 was going for $175 at my lgs. If you're going to leave in the truck all the time, I would NOT use...

If you're irresponsible, that's on you!

Sounds like a case of "Somebody has to take care of me because I'm a worthless idiot".

What was the best GUN present/surprise you ever got?

I recently recieved a S&W Highway Patrolman. I believe it's about a 1955/6 manufacture. It's in beautiful condition, Just had a tiny bit of rust on the end of the barrel from sitting in a holster for years. It polished right off. It was a gift from a good friend. He lives in a trailer and was...

How do you feel about "Big Box Gun Stores"

They're ok if you know exactly what you want and how much it's worth. Walk in buy your gun and leave. I would never go to one for information on weapons (That's what you guys are for, right?), figure out what you want, then go there.

    Tennessee Gun Shops

What dates? There's a hardeware store in Cookeville that is owned by a knife collector. There's an entire room of knives, from budget to high end.

A shooting in Britain on New Years day with legally-held firearms

Sorry to hear that. We've had few here in the States over the holidays. What's with the taxi drivers? You know about our American phrase "Going Postal"? It seems that for a while back in the 1970's and 1980's certain postal employees thought it would be a good idea to take out their...

Asked to pay sales tax in CA for out of state purchase :(

Bubbles, so far in Tenn. individual shops are making the decision wether or not to collect the tax. The state law mandates that it will be collected. Some guys are skating until the shtf. Most of the guys i buy from are collecting now.

How many of you carry at work ?

I do. A lot of others do too. Our Co. has never printed any policy and everyone has been smart enough to keep quiet. So far.

Asked to pay sales tax in CA for out of state purchase :(

Yep. Lots of states are starting this. Here in Tn. (9.75%) they now take the tax at transfer. We'll be seeing more of this. States are scratching for every penny they can get.

    Gun safe or hide them?

You can't "hide" anything. Something might be missed by a meth head moron, but any pro burglar knows where to look for certain things and he will find it. Safes are for keeping honest people honest. Gotta be bolted down, and again, a pro will open it up like a cracker box. I go for the safe...
