I like the "scout rifle" style scope mount on the mosin. It doesn't require any permanent modifications so when I come across a better rifle I can easily swap it around. Plus the bolt handle can be left alone. I don't know why but I really like the bolt sticking straight out the side like it...
I'm gonna have some words with my local reloading supplier. He's charging $2 more a can for the 296 and assured me it was a far better powder than h110.
I've bought & sold and traded away a more than a dozen .243 win's in the past ten years and every time I find myself without one I kick myself for getting rid of the last one and start looking for another.
Light recoil lends itself to a light rifle which makes strolling through the orchards...
I've gotten good results from 296 also. I keep H110 around for another caliber so it's the go to for the big 357 loads. If I didn't already have the H110 I'd be using 296.
+1 for the RCBS trim pro.
My Father-In-Law had all but given up on reloading because of arthritis in his hands.
The wife and I got him the Trim Pro for fathers day and he loves it.
I'll set aside any high quality rifle brass for golf ball shoots. these get separated by head stamp and weight
otherwise it's only separated by caliber
I took my newly aquired P1 to the range over the weekend for the first time and now I can't seem to get the slide to come off for cleaning.
Going through the take down procedure I: Pulled the slide back until it latched, removed magazine, rotate takedown lever, gently release slide to forward...
Only once have I test fired and that was a G17 I bought from a friend.
If it feels good in my hand I go home and research it. Unless it's a good deal, then all bets are off.
