I had the same question as the OP about a year ago. I ended up getting a Ruger American in .308 with Nikon Prostaff Scope (4-12x40). Entire package less than $450!
I understand that this is a legal way to build your own AR without going through FFL or SN. Is this true and can someone recommend a good source for 80 AR lowers? Any tips on machining or building?
This is for his 10th grade speech class. He is looking for sources, illustrations, true stories, etc. to cite in his report. Can anybody offer any suggestions? He needs to present arguments from both sides but intends on persuading the class that the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages.
It would also seem to me that a bulging case would have thinner brass at the bulge. Just putting it through a die or making sure the outside case dimensions are "spec" would not repair the thinness of the case. Does that make sense or am I missing something?

Just got my first piece of equipment, a Lee Breech Lock Challenger Press and am in the process of acquiring more equipment and information. First question:
1. When should I de-prime? Before or after cleaning the spent brass?
Sorry for the absence.
