    The NRA

Was yearly member for a long time. Recently, took the easy pay $500 offer for Life. I've always opted-out of their advertising. It has never been a problem.

    CMP south store visit

The goal of the CMP is (1) to encourage marksmanship, not (2) to sell surplus rifles. To do (1), you need revenues from (2). CMP made the decision to increase (2) to the benefit of (1).

    CMP south store visit

I've been buying from the CMP for 12 years. The pickings are now pretty slim. I was very lucky to have just gotten a field grade M1 carbine. I waited 3+ years since Orest casually mentioned one day he was sitting on 1,300 carbines. I've heard rumors of some M1903s on the CMP forums. The...

    Springfield 1903 mark 1

Most Mark I's were rebuilt. You most likely have a replacement stock. This is very common. Barrel is likely original. Most Mark I's date from 1918-19. Enjoy owning and shooting a classic!

    good, bad, ugly of Kentucky?

I relocated to Kentucky ten years ago from California. Kentucky is indeed "gun-friendly." We are just starting a governor's race here, both the Democrat and republican contenders have NRA "A" ratings. I live in Lexington. Open carry would probably attract attention, but otherwise...

    Favorite Hickok45 Videos

I'm sure I'm not the only one who has spent countless hours watching videos on "Hickok45"'s Youtube channel. He's an extremely amiable gentlemen and a crack shot who has his own range. I love his mixture of firearms history, mechanical fascination, and homespun humor and wisdom. Still, he has...
