Been gone a bit. I stand corrected on the 4" for hunting comment. I was thinking of Indiana laws. I've only lived here 2 years and haven't handgun hunted here yet.
Regardless of all the questions, it's just fun to shoot. Sure some are faster, some have heavier and better selections of bullets but there is just something about it.
I have the 4" GP100 and am very pleased with the accuracy and how it handles.
I belt carry it around the place in an Uncle Mike's holster.
It might be a little big to conceal on a smaller person.
I don't have any experience with the Smiths but they have a good reputation so you would...
Got to shoot mine last week and the trigger was much better after just a 100 rounds. It is probably the best I have shot a new pistol in a long time. I got mine for $414 with tax.
I'm not OCD about cleaning but they do get wiped down with an oily rag after each use or every 6 months. My carry guns get a visual inspection about twice a week.
I am not nearly as bad as I used to be. New finishes and better ammunition have made a huge difference.

My insurance agent told us to take our Beware of Dog sign down. He said it "acknowledged our having a dog that bites." Do we live in a weird world or what?
I'm 5' 7", 190 lbs. and I really was expecting it to be bad after all the stuff I had read. I find it not at all unpleasant too shoot. It has a little snap, but completely manageable.
