    Wanting .22 New Revolver

Get an older smith k22 with 8" barrel. Excellent practice. Kids can use it. Go squirrel hunting in back yard. Lasts forever. Will hold if not increase in value.

    Waning interest in magnums

357 best ever According to an article I read a few years ago on another forum which article was summarizing some slaughterhouse tests the issues to concerned with were as follows. 1. Recoil causes poor target reacquisition. 2. Larger bores cause over penetration. 3. Ammunition should be...

Do you let others handle, or shoot your firearms?

I don't have any problem letting others use my firearms on a range where I can supervise the use but under Florida law the owner of a dangerous instrumentality, such as a loaded firearm, can vicariously be legally liabile for the negligent use of the dangerous instrumentality by another. I...

What kind of .357 ammo is in your .357 for SD?

357 ammo Almost all the better grade American made ammo is OK. No reloads or foreign loads for HD. That said a lightweight 357 bullet (110 gr JHP) has higher velocity and penetration is as good if not better then heavier bullets. Additionally when shooting for HD target reacquisition is...

I notice now most of us older guys (50+)

This old guy likes revolvers. I had 6 or 8 semiautos plus around 15 S&W revolvers and it finally occured to me that would be safer if every one one of my pistols worked the same. Thereafter traded or sold the semautos replacing with revolvers.

    Smith & Wesson 48-4

Model 48 on N frame The size that made them think it was a larger gun is true because the 48 was built on an N frame whereas the 17 and 18 were K frame guns

My first 4473+FFL experience, what I learned.

Florida waiting period & quick check With a Florida Concealed Weapon Permit the FFL calls the FDLE,gives them your id data and within about 15 seconds is given a reference number which allows him to sell you the firearm on the spot and you go home with it the day you bought it. Interestingly...

    K22 Information?

Well, part of the problem is that both the 17 and 18 were in production in 1957. That said I sure thought that the 17 was also available with a 4" barrell. That might be when the 18 was dropped from production some years later???? Magnumite is right though about the sights. Unless you don't...

    K22 Information?

    Hi Steve - My favorite pistol! Clearly made in 1957 according to the "Catalog." 1957 serial numbers were from K288989 - K317822. These numbers covered models 14, 15, 16. 17, 18, 19, 48, 53, 66, 67 and 68. Your revolver is a "Model 18, K-22 Combat Masterpiece." This is a square butt K frame...

    another model 19 question

Among the 357s I've got a 19-3, 2 19-5s and a 27-2. When I go shooting the 19-3 and 27 always go as well as an old wore out K22. Out of about 40 S&Ws those three have the best actions, are the easiest and thus the most fun to shoot. Actually they're the only ones I can hit anything with if...

How to prevent the police from seizing your guns?

c919, that was because by the time you got there the NRA had already filed suit and secured an injunction against the city enjoining them from any further confiscations.

I notice now most of us older guys (50+)

I guess I had about 20 revolvers and semi-autos combined and about 5 years ago came to the conclusion that everything would be a lot safer if all of them worked the same; a conclusion which now 5 years later has resulted in about 25 S&W revolvers. A 6" 17-3 and a 6" 19-3 are my favorites...

Identity and Date of Manufacture of S&W Revolvers

S&W Catalog Brian, it sure is nice of you to help these guys with info re their guns but it makes me wonder why they don't refer to the catalog - maybe they don't know about it. You know how it sorta' skips around... but I've had a lot of fun researching my own revolvers in it and have usually...
