more than a few of these look unshot. i put 150 through my 590a1 in ONE DAY after getting it and it STILL looked more used than most guns in this thread...
looks like some range time is in order
glock 17 with mounted light and extra mags.
forget hauling the kind of gear people are talking about down there. extra mags are really the only practical option. so im taking a very hi cap reliable pistol and extra mags and mounted light source
six months is nothing....
I just want something that'll be reliable being rotated every 2 months at the most...
gonna order some Fiocchi and see how it does. seems like a nice reduced recoil low cost option for my pgo 500...
true...guess I should differntiate it...the idea was probably old after the old west, more or less...
I mean in today's current DEDICATED synthetic grips...the Ithaca Stakeout is the earliest instance of this I can think of, possibly predated by folding stocks?
this isn't to merit the pros and cons of pgos...thats been done to death. I'm wondering if anyone has any input on about when the concept of pistol grip-only shotguns gained momentum and what their original imagined useage would be? I mean actual dedicated-pistol grips rather than birdshead chop...
rbernie,
MAX100 said something about the Fiocchi being good but tending to deform if left in a mag tube for too long (too long being shorter than most prescribed versions of "too long" i.e. a couple months at a time)...
what do you think? I'm thinking of buying some Fiocchi...
I know...I was saying in general. The op, for some reason, seems to lack faith in the most traditional of buckshot rounds and it's a little perplexing. Handgun rounds, sure...rounds in a black rifle, ok...but if we're feeling buckshot is anemic than we're in trouble... :D
Pretty much sums up your attitude. You received a host of information. It only got dicey when you rudely declared that you had a total willingness to ignore it. It's not like I come out of the woodwork to attack anyone, if you're rude though...expect me to let you know. If you "don't want to...
most of us who post here frequently I think find ourselves pondering shotgun purchases when other guns really fill a more pressing need...and still the scattergun is there.....begging to be bought.....
you need to worry more about the process before you worry about how to do it. however my suggestion is :
pawnshop special 12 ga wingmaster
a hogue tamer pistol grip and hogue rubber forend
barrel cut to magazine tube and recrowned
pattern reduced recoil loads and decide which is best
the end...
apparently they can be EXTREMELY resilient when we're afraid to trust 00 buckshot out of a 12 gauge
living things don't like getting hit with 2 3/4" 00 buck...at all
when people say "double aught buck" theyre referring to traditional 2 3/4" double aught buck...3" capabilities didn't come...
you were given plenty of info, both before and after you stated your intention to ignore it.
the 3" is an inferior choice for home defense for many reasons ; Plenty of agency issued shotguns have been issued in 2 3/4" chamber only configurations. Whether or not you can "handle" the recoil is...
UNLESS these parts break in an 870, and then you'll know what a hassle is.
My vote is for a Mossberg 590a1 6-shot for under 400.
It's a tank, flat out.
