Wounded Black Bear attacks hunter, hunter responds with .45

"Wyckoff said he fired a round into the bear's forehead, but the animal kept coming and climbed on top of him. From beneath, Wyckoff said, he got off three more rounds." He hit it in the forehead... Granted, there are more ideal places to shoot a bear, but it doesn't seem like he aimed poorly.

    Cleaning a Browning BPS

Shot around 150 shells yesterday (went through an entire box of clays...) and it's not dirty at all... A nice change from the AR-15, haha.

    Browning BPS opinions?

I love my BPS. Very smooth action and it points extremely well for me. It's a completely ambidextrous shotgun, and bottom ejection can be useful for ejecting shells directly into the bucket at the range. The BPS Trap models have a selector switch (S/R) that lets you load a shell directly...

How many 12ga proponets have actually shot a 20ga? Blind Poll

To some degree, I agree... I've seen people shoot magnum loads at clays, and that's the peak of stupidity. But the recoil from normal, cheap 12ga target shells doesn't bother me nearly enough that I'm going to spend money on a 20 gauge. That said, if I had one, I'm sure I'd use it sometimes...

    Wolf Buckshot

There is more than one Wolf. Yes, Wolf is a brand name used by Tula Cartridge Works. WOLF Performance Ammunition is a California-based importer/contractor of ammunition, including ammunition produced by Tula.

    Your very first gun..

Smith & Wesson M&P-15A, purchased mid-May 2009. There'd be something wrong with me if I didn't still own it. :uhoh:

    Cleaning a Browning BPS

Interesting. I doubt I'm going to be shooting more than a few hundred shells a year, so I guess I'm good..

    Cleaning a Browning BPS

Alright, so the manual said that you should take off only the barrel for cleaning (!) and further reading has made it clear that it can be a pain to actually field strip (or do what would be equivalent to field stripping in every other gun). Is there any way to actually clean it without taking...

How many 12ga proponets have actually shot a 20ga? Blind Poll

I'm curious why so many people use a 20 gauge for clays. I admit there's unlikely to be a significant advantage to a 12 gauge for that, but it's not like 12 gauge 2.75" #8 target loads have much recoil.

    Ghost rings for clays?

I'm looking to get a shotgun (my first) for clays and home defense. For those combined uses, should I get ghost rings or bead sights? There's also the option of getting multiple barrels, but most ghost ring sights I've seen have the rear sight mounted to the receiver, so I don't know if...

U.S. Customs Looking to Ban Most Pocketknives!

Whatever Customs ultimately decides to do will only directly affect importation. There are several US manufacturers of assisted-opening knives. That said, apparently some states don't actually define a switchblade in their own laws, and this could be a problem in those states.

Assisted Openers Banned For Importation into the USA

This is not entirely correct. Many states have their own definition of what a switchblade is. In that case, the Customs definition will not be the definition used in any prosecution. Also, switchblades are, in fact, legal in several states, so in those states it doesn't actually matter...

PA - AR-15s are now pistols, apparently?

I believe that is the reason, though. It's terribly illogical, but I get the impression that the PA State Police took the ATF's statement - that AR-15 receivers can become either rifles or pistols - and is trying to use it as justification to define all AR-15 receivers (including the ones in...

PA - AR-15s are now pistols, apparently?

That's good to hear. Honestly, this should be an easy one in court. There is simply no logical way to argue that a complete, assembled AR-15 rifle is actually a pistol.

PA - AR-15s are now pistols, apparently?

I don't have a source, but I've heard from multiple dealers that the State Police are now requiring a white pistol form be filled out for every AR-15 lower receiver and even complete AR-15 rifles. This would mean that AR-15s (and possibly Sig 556s as well) are considered pistols in Pennsylvania...

    Everyone go buy a .17 HM2, not a HMR

"Anyone know what would happen if mach2 rounds were fired in HMR rifles? Basically the same bullet?? except the case rim is slightly smaller. noob_shooter is offline Report Post" They are NOT interchangeable. .17 HM2 is a necked down .22 LR. .17 HMR is a necked down .22 WMR. The WMR case...

The perfect optic for an AK-47 style or similar rifle

"Right, but I'm not relying on tritium at all; solely upon fiber optics. I don't even consider the tritium at all as a plus. The question is, really, 9 MOA Amber dot: http://www.trijicon.com/user/parts/p...&categoryID=13 Or 13 MOA Amber dot...

Mags, mags, mags...how many do you have? Are they enough?

I have three mags for my AR-15. I want some 20s because they don't get in the way while shooting at the bench, but aside from that, I don't have any desire for more.

Buying my first semi-automatic rifle, I ask your advice.

"IMO, no-one as inexperienced as you should get any semi-auto rifle, even a .22LR. Would you want your teenage daughter to learn to drive in a Ferrari?" What's the problem? As long as he can resist the impulse to dump the magazine, it's no different.
