Data for 9mm XTP 147 please

Thanks for the TG/chrono info Kaldor! The TG load was ANOTHER one I missed on the Hodgdon site... doh. I do like the pressure/speed combo with TG, looking at the Hodgdon data. Corresponds with what you're presenting Kaldor.

Data for 9mm XTP 147 please

Good point on legal. I think the legal point is enough to make saving a few bucks on factory ammo not a good deal. And I think years ago I came to that decision but forgot about it. I totally missed the HP38 on Hodgdon's paired w XTP 147! Guess I'll load that up and keep for SHTF backup...

Data for 9mm XTP 147 please

Some years back I picked up a couple boxes of XTP 147 JHP in 9mm. Believe I was thinking to use them for SD carry, and by loading them I could practice with carry rounds cost effectively. So with that in mind: Is it foolish to think I can develop SD rounds without a chrony? indoor range...

Missouri & Falcon cast pistol bullets - are they lubed?

Gotcha. Maybe I'll keep to my process of rolling in Alox. Sounds like no foul (haha) if I do.

Missouri & Falcon cast pistol bullets - are they lubed?

OK, so it was my misunderstanding... yes, all the cast lead bullets I've bought have lube in the ring, but I thought it was recommended to coat them in Alox to help prevent leading. So that's not needed at all?

Missouri & Falcon cast pistol bullets - are they lubed?

Just getting back to reloading after a long break & getting to using some MBC & Falcon cast lead bullets I ordered in 2013. I'm trying to find out if these came lubed from vendors? MBC's current FAQs say they are lubed. But it's 10 years from when I bought 'em. Falcon went out of business in...

Pistol to rifle - defensive use - platform suggestions from a reloader's perspective?

    1. home defense + additional range/accuracy over pistol 2. subdivision 1/2 acres 3. GA Yup, leaning towards a 9 carbine from these comments, perhaps a Ruger PC. Yeah, not looking to take away from my next vacation to finance a Gucci gun. ;)

Pistol to rifle - defensive use - platform suggestions from a reloader's perspective?

The 'what's on hand' concept is well served by my EDC 1911's or compact 9. Or full sized 9 at the nightstand... Good suggestions re: pistol caliber carbines! It's been so long since I'd read about them I'd totally forgotten that option. And I am SET for components, both 9 & 45, no matter...

Pistol to rifle - defensive use - platform suggestions from a reloader's perspective?

I've been handloading for my pistols (9 & 45) for some years, though not much in the last several years. Doing both on a Hornady L&L, though I've got a Lee single stage mothballed on the shelf. At my peak, I'd do about 1K rounds/month of combined calibers. Only rifle I own is a .22 I've had...

    Wolf LP primers?

Like them a lot more now that I load them on a LNL AP instead of the Lee Turret - the LCT doesn't have the leverage of the LNL, and seating Wolfs on it would often leave them high.

LNL AP - primer shuttle problem

Thanks to all who offered advice. Another update; last night I took out a sleeve of Wolf primers. These have always been a PIA to seat fully with the LCT. Ran about 50, and had absolutely no problems getting every single one below flush or just flush. Awesome. And it took almost no more...

    Powder shelf life

None of it's any good now. But I'll do you a favor and take it off your hands. Give it a good burial n' all. :D Much much longer than 3 years, as long as it's properly stored. (Original jug, tightly sealed, normal temps.) Primers, about forever.

LNL AP - primer shuttle problem

Lol... well, this one don't float no mo'. What happened was the slide would hang in the out position, then sometimes snap back into place as the ram lowered. The snap then shook the pin & wheel out of the slide. After the second time this happened, and I was done crawling around the floor...

LNL AP - primer shuttle problem

Aha? Maybe. Some JB Weld put the shuttle pin back in place, so I was able to test some more. Deburred some more edges, tested, no joy. But in doing so, I noticed that the lower primer feed housing (it keeps the primer shuttle in place) had a very small bit of lateral play on the end with...

LNL AP - primer shuttle problem

For those who are disparaging the LNL primer system, you have to remember I'm coming from a LCT, and those have FAR MORE threads about wonky primer feeds, I bet. :D In fact, I even got a thumbs up from Mr Lee's son for my 2 cent fix to the LCT's main problem. Unfortunately, the cheap easy...

LNL AP - primer shuttle problem

lol.... when it rains.... so I smooth the edges, seems to be working better, still not 100%.... maybe 1 or 2 out of 10 the shuttle sticks. BUT.... as I'm working through that, getting a feel for the press, the pin that holds the wheel on the shuttle decides to pop out! It appears to be a...
