S&W M&P is in your price range. Full size or compact is available.I have the full size and I like it. The only down side is the mag capacity. The 14 round mags make it into a monstrosity. The standard 10 round mags are still better than a 1911.
My M-57 had a removable trigger group. I remember it falling out the first time I field stripped it.It was probably copied from the Tokarev. I am not sure if the communists sued each other for infringement or not. I doubt if anything came of that. It was what the communists did.Remember Joe...
It is my understanding that the reason for the gap is to make it self cleaning. The full sized M&Ps are the same as are most of the striker fired pistols on the market.
I am truly surprised no one mentioned S & W M & P 2.0. 2.0. The Sig 320 also deserves a mention.Apologies to all of the Glock-aholics.They are both in the $450-$500 range.
My most accurate load has been 46.5 grains of W-760 with 139 grain Hornardy Interlock. I have also used 49 grains of RL 19 behind the same bullet. I don't have a chronograph but they work excellent in my Rem 788 with the 18 1/2 inch barrel. Brass has always been Remington with Federal Large...
I love my CZ 82. It is the most accurate handgun in my safe. I carried it for a while until I got my 40C M & P. It is languishing unused at the present but I will never get rid of it. I hand load for it but always carried Silver Bear HPs because of their availability and accuracy.
Favorite Propellent for 40 S & W
It depends on what you are looking for. I like HP38/WW 231 for lead target loads. Red Dot also works good as does Titegroup. I use Clays or Alliant ClayDot for 155 grain plated. I use Power Pistol for full bore loads with jacketed bullets. I have also tried BE86...
Not true. I am 3/4 of a century in age and have had guns since I was old enough. My son has had a 40 M&P for quite a while. I had done all of the hand loading for the son and shot his many times. As soon as the 40s came on the market at Bud's Gun Shop at a price that I could handle I jumped...
Whatever you wish
Make your decision based on what you want and not what the FBI or any other agency decides. I just in the last year acquired 2 40 M&Ps a 40 and a 40C from Buds VIA their excellent police trade in sales. I am not sorry in any way and I do also have 2 9s as well as a 45 ACP. A...
45 acp
I have found the 45ACP rather easy to reload. IMO HS 6 is too slow burning for the 45 ACP. The fact that your loads worked before tells me that something is different this time. It could be the temperature as others have said. Are you sure that the primers and head stamps of your brass...
Taurus PT 111 G2
I have had mine for about 18 Months. It was my 1st purchase from Bud's and I paid $249. It digests everything I feed it-mostly my hand loads. I agree that the long trigger pull is annoying but not too bad once I got familiar with it. I alternate carrying it with my 40C M&P.I...
Personal weapons
I served in the US Army 1963-1965. I was an enlisted E-3 type. I finished my tour in Korea in the 1st Cav/2nd Inf and never knew of anyone having their own personal sidearm.I was not in a line company but in Div Artillery HQ. Anyone caught with one would have been in deep...
Has anyone seen or fired S&Ws new Shield in 45ACP? I saw one review on YouTube that was highly supportive of the new pistol. Any comments would be appreciated. I have a full sized 45 M&P which I like and may consider buying the new Shield.

I would go with BE 86 or Hodgdon CFE Pistol They are very close in burn rate and interchangeable with different data of course. I like Hornardy XTP in either 124 or 115 grains with 124 preferred. The experts say never use hand loads so it is your choice
If they must have a polymer striker fired weapon, I would prefer American made and designed-Read Smith and Wesson M & P. They are accurate, dependable and don't look like the magazine is an afterthought. They also have a natural grip angle and feel better in the hands to most people than the...
My 2 best loads are 4.4 grains of Titegroup behind a 230 grain LRN and 4.5 Grains of RedDot behind a 200 Grain LSWC. I am experimenting with 185 Grain Nosler HP but I haven't settled on a good load. YMMV. These loads both function perfect in my M & P 45.
John Moses Browning got it right 105 years ago. Some of the modern "Polmyer Wonders" are good but not better than what Browning gave us way back then. The demise of the 1911 A1 has been greatly exaggerated.
