I'm wondering if you have any input on the state of primer manufacturing in 2024. Everyone has their favorites, but manufacturing changes from over time and maybe primers that were great in 2003 or 2016 may not deliver in 2024. So I'm at Cabelas just a bit ago and they have a bunch of options...
has anyone tried this?
I am a prepper at heart and this seems like a good thing to have on hand

In a recent post I mentioned that a gun shop clerk told me that the new Expansion Industries primer plant in Texas was not going to be built. No one seemed to have more info about it, but one poster said it had been a scam without providing details.
There doesn’t appear to be anything new...
I'm fairly new to reloading and have been mostly reloading pistol loads. I would like to load some rifle loads for hunting....30-06 and 308. I have no Large Rifle primers but I have the opportunity to get some at a local auction. I have 3 different manuals and they call out Winchester WLR, CCI...
So, for reloading the 7.62x39, what primers do you suggest to decrease risk of slamfire in an AKM? CCI #34 military? Any Magnum large rifle primer?
Current concern is an IO Inc AKM rifle with a floating firing pin.
I recently pitched the Lee Ram Swage primarily for .308 and .223 reloading. I set the swage up for .308. I sized and deprimed my brass. When I use the swage it bends my case mouth inwards a significant amount causing me to have to re-size all the brass. Additionally, on cases with a significant...
I just reamed a LPP pocket on a single piece of 10mm brass down to an LRP with a pocket reamer, I wanted to see if my Glocks striker would be potent enough to set off these CCI magnum LRP's and after loading the empty casing with just the primer and dropping it into the chamber it fired but I...
Ok...we all expect (hope) supply shortage will end and Uncle Joe will be unsuccessful in blocking our right to have fun on the range and in the woods. So large pistol primers (and all the other kinds) should be cheap and available again. But, people used to say the supply of 12 ga would never...
Lost the small pistol primer pocket for my .38/.357 seating die. Anyone know if I can get a replacement without buying a new die set?
Many thanks,
Leif
Hi everyone, so I just started reloading and after working some brass I tried to seat a few primers tonight. It was my first time, and honestly I think I made a mess of things... I’m using a Lee breach lock challenger and I was priming on the ram. I have once fired (by me) federal .223 brass and...
Hello,
I'm relatively new to reloading rifle brass, though I've seen what 'normal' (2-hole) Berdan cases look like.
I often pick up other cases from my local range while policing my own (and TBH, I pick up un-collected brass as a hobby).
I came across a few 7.62x39 cases that have a ͶK 1982...

NOTE: This is just for information and in no way is it a suggestion for use.
Communication with Sellier & Bellot has been slow due to Holidays and vacations this time of year. A few weeks back I supplied S&B with details of my load data, measurements and photos. Their conclusion, if I were...
I learned something new about Sellier & Bellot primers. Their large rifle primer comes in two different flavors. There is the 5.3 LR and 5.3 LR-SE. S&B's usage chart shows the LR-SE is needed for .308 Win. I'm sad to say I proved them correct at my latest range day. No major damage, but it put a...
Primer goes off in inertial bullet puller on a loaded 22-250.
Just had a close call when using a RCBS inertial bullet puller. I have been using one of these for about 30 years with out any problem. Today I was going to pull a few bullets out of loaded 22-250 ammo to change the load for...
Hey Guys. Need some help with my .40 loads. The problem I am running into is about a 10% failure to fire due to primers not igniting. I have tried exchanging every component I am using including using both CCI and Remington Primers; Power Pistol, IMR and Winchester powders; as well as both new...
how reliable is it?
how frequent is required maintenance and what needs to be done
how many primer tubes have you loaded with it?
how much time required to change small <-> large primer?
Thanks!
Was playing around with my 550 press, trying to figure an easier way to swap between primer sizes. I think I succeeded. I searched and could not find this method online anywhere. Maybe someone else figured this out, but they did not post a video that I can find. I timed this, and the complete...
