A local (Los Angeles County) bank robber was just convicted of 22 charges stemming from 26 bank robberies which were carried out during a 3-month spree.

David Lee Robinson, 54, had been called the "Dreadlock Bandit". His bank robberies had been carried out to pay for his illegal drug usage.

The article didn't mention if Robinson might become eligible for parole at any time.

1,210 years in California means he won't be eligble for parole until October of this year....

Armoredman that's great!!LMAO

I wonder what kind of drug habbit he had robbing 26 banks in 3 months? Lets see that's one bank every 3.4 days?:uhoh:

In the meantime we let rapists go with a few months and probation. I think our priorities are a little misdirected.

yay! Finally I story I can comment on..because I was one of the investigators involved in it.

He hit my city early on in the series. Our victim/witness thought he was a homeless guy due to his shabby appearance. He then hit a place in LA and an old school detective from LAPD looked at the surveillance tape and said, "That looks like Dave Robinson." He was the same detective who worked on Robinson's case 14+ years ago when he went on his previous bank robbery spree. Near the end of the series he was wearing white suits and flashy bling.

Long story short several detectives from a neighboring city set up on some likely spots and sure enough spotted him on his way to another robbery.

They tried to pin one robbery against him as armed because the teller said that she saw a knife. We all thought it might be a little weak because on EVERY other robbery he only passed a note, and it wasn't real clear if he really presented the knife as a threat or what. Anyway, the jury dropped that charge.

The good news, and why you saw that headline, is that he was tried here in the Torrance Courthouse which draws from a rather conservative (for Calif) jury pool and the judges are tough too.

On the proverbial "bright side," he's obviously well qualified for the legislature.

by Rick Reno, Or Congress.
Both you guys are right. But I was thinking more along the lines of governer of Illinois. We've had a long streak of corrupt governers. The current governer is being investigated, the last on is on trial now for 20 some counts and the ones before oh heck I can't remember.
Or better yet the Dailey machine in Chicago could use him. They're continuously losing politicians to prison. Just recently the local FBI anounced they need to hire a new unit to help fight all the corruption just in chicago.:cuss: :banghead: :fire:
