10/22 chamber disforming bullet

I was attaching the scope rail on my 10/22 and I noticed that chambering a round results in this type of marking (it is more than a mark, it is 'dented') of the bullet. Can anyone weigh in on this?

Wow, that's bad.
they must be hitting the bottom edge of the feed ramp.
If it were mine I would take the gun apart and see if something is holding the magazine down or maybe the barrel isn't tight to the frame.
 
have you tried a different mag? If you you slowly ease the bolt forward to chamber the first round, what happens? where is it catching? bottom? sides?
 
Did you check the protrusion of the screws from the mount into the top of the receiver? They might be a tad long.
