I've been scouring everywhere to find an affordable 1100 for my wife, but haven't been able to find one. She wants something akin to the 1100 youth, but in 12 gauge. Well, apparently Turner's has a sale on the 1100 tactical with a 22" VR Remchoke barrel ($645). My question is, if I put a youth stock on this and take off the extended mag, will it be any good for busting clays?

Barrel may be a little short as-is but a longer one can be dropped in. Other than that, it should be OK. I've used my 1187 SPS set up for 3-gun (28" or 30" bbl, can remember off hand) for Sporting Clays, extended mag (10 rounds) and all. Got some funny looks but I didn't care.

Go for it.

One of the guy's lady friend uses an 1100 LT 20 with 24" rem choked v/r barrel and fitted with a youth stock. She's deadly on skeet and wobble trap and can keep her own on 5 stand and clay courses.

Did have to get it approved at one range, since the barrel length was less then 26". (This range has a minimum barrel length rule to prevent use of "HD/Combat" shotguns). Only mention it, as it might be an issue at some ranges/clubs.
