85% of whom are drug related. Gee, is it the guns or could it be something else?

    Gary,

You are using Truth and Reason! How do you expect to reach liberal minds by doing something like that!

Thank God them murderers didn't use no guns. More people could've gotten hurt -- killed even. Kali's got all them strict gun laws so we know them bad guys ain't usin' guns to shoot nobody.

    Golly,

I'll paraphrase our last fearful leader here... "I'd think that even a crack dealer would have the sense to use a trigger-lock and help keep his community a little bit safer".

    As IF!

I feel sorry for all of those Momma's in Oakland. That's a lot of funeral expense.

And add, that I'm sure those "sensible gun-laws" have held the murder rate down. Otherwise who knows, they may have had 500 dead gang-banger/druggie types. And what a shame that would be.

Maybe 2003 will bring the level down to 112 "gun-related" deaths. That'd be an improvement for sure.

    Adios

Let's see, violent crime up in the entire state & courts have said that the agreements Gov. Gray made w/ power companies are binding. I guess 2 wrongs will make a right since the state has re-elected him :banghead:

I'm sure the number is a complete fake: after all, the People's Republic of California has some of the most draconian leftist extremist so-called "gun control" laws in the nation to prevent criminals from murdering people.

Did I say that with a straight enough face?

Not only are these murders drug related, but the majority of both victimes and perpetrators are felons on parole. Which means, they are legally prohibited from obtaining firearms. Which means, they are obtaining them illegally. Gee, I wonder which new gun control law will take care of that little problem?

edited to fix a stupid typo.

no no no, people the problem isnt guns, it isnt drugs, and it certainly isnt the bad guys who commit crimes. they arent to blame for all the murders.
its the FUNERAL HOMES. they are making a killing out there (no pun intended), and if there werent so many funeral homes, then obviously there wouldnt be a need for so many murders!

ban funeral homes now! if it stops just one cadaver....

    wheres the puke similie? :barf:

Spacemanspiff - your logic is flawless. It must be a conspiracy amongst morticians to help them through these tough economic times. The whole funeral industry, including the florists, are to blame!

    Most of them are probably....

teenagers so they would fall under the title of murdered children that the left uses to make us look bad because we support the murder of children with our evil guns.....chris3

Yeah, I live right next door to it. And yet, I still can't legally carry to protect myself. In fact, for me to leave my city limits, I have to pass through some part of Oakland borders. Can anyone figure out what city in which I live? (Sorry, no prizes)

I lived in Oakland for a while, also in Richmond. Heard shots all the time at night, in fact I kind of got used to it. Scary! Never had any of my guns in California, they were all left here in Utah. If there were ever a place where the good guys need to conceal carry, it is the Bay Area. I hope the lawmakers in ************ get a clue fast.

Here is the solution for PRK:

Make a law that makes illegal guns illegal and brag about it!

Taxing Oakland FFL's and putting them out of business surely ended all gun violence.

Hey, is Berkeley still a nuclear free zone???

That might be rather handy should a smuggled container ship nuke go off in Oakland. Should prevent fallout in Berkeley. I work in San Leandro...I wonder if they are nuke free.

    113. That's it? Here in New Orleans we got at least 260 for Orleans proper, and about the same next door where I live in Jefferson Parish. The vast majority are drug related.

However, as others have posted the anti's don't care about the fact that drugs are the reason, not the guns.

I wonder how that ratio holds up against other cities? I'll bet a major motive for robberies is to get money for drugs, but at the same time, I'll bet the official motive listed for many murders is simply "robbery".

No, no, no! You're missing the point!

Without the byzantine gun laws, Oakland may have had over 300 murders... now that's science!

    :)

Umm, actually all the guns that were used in the murders were from a certain gun dealer in Tacoma Washington...
