12" taurus .17 hmr

    I just fired my first rounds through this baby and am amazed at accuracy. Anybody else having this much fun?

    Hi Les !

    Welcome to THR !

    I suspect that few people have this gun. It sounds like it could indeed be a fun gun to shoot. I own three Taurus revolvers and my Model 731 has become a favorite along with being my constant companian. I also have the Model 94 in .22 LR for plinking and have found them to be accurate . My third is the .44 mag. Tracker.

    I'd love to shoot that 12" !

    My father has a S&W 647 .17 HMR, but it's the short-barreled one - 8 3/8"

    Right now it has a UltraDot Match Dot on it and it's pretty accurate with the sight set on the 1 MOA dot and the 2.25-pound trigger job I did on it.

    I've got the 6 1/2", SS. I would have bought the 8 incher if my local shop had it. 12" inch is a bit more than I want to handle, but I bet it keeps it in the 10 ring.


    The ammo costs as much as much as my other pistols though, so it doesn't get as much action as it used to.

    Is this a mistake? or has someone started marketing a .12 caliber round? I'm assuming that you mean .17hmr.

    In that case, I don't own a .17 handgun, but I sure have fun with it from my Savage model 93 :)

    can you post pictures of this gun? sounds pretty cool. also, how is the balance of the gun? i know the barrel is small but i didnt know if you felt like you needed post to set the end of the barrel on while you shoot.
