this year my 14 yr old son went with me hunting. he got his first deer, a doe. Got it on the 7th and last day hunting. He saw several opportunities lost due to not being ready, also passed on a few shots due it it just not being a good shot. all in all a good hunt for him to learn patients and how not to lose out on a good opportunity when he gets it.

My niece also got her doe the morning my son got his. They each drove their atv's out and were pretty cute as they drove past the other hunting parties.

Look like some happy kids. Glad they both had a great day of hunting.

It'll happen less and less with more experience. Thanks for sharing the pics! Congrats.

Sweeeeet! Looks like a nice size doe especially for his first. Just out of curiosity, what was he using?

thanks everybody. i was pleased with the judgement to not take a bad angle shot. i was looking through field glasses and it wasn't a good angle. he decided to pull up on his own. he has a savage 270, we were shooting handloads, 130g nosler accubonds. my niece shoots a savage 7mm-08.

the lake in the background had just frozen over. that morning it was 12* when we drove in early a.m. neither of them whined or complained all week.

That in ITSELF speaks volumes. Todays generation of kids seem to be a bunch of little sissies. Seems like you have some special kids there. Good job on raising them in the wonderful world of nature! Nice couple of Does there. Keep up the good work in raising them little ones!
