.177 caliber miniature BP cannon

i made this little cannon a long time ago out of billet aluminum. i used to run it off paper toy caps because BP would not get the ball out of the barrel. 3 would send a BB through a soda can. definitely not a toy for unsupervised kids, but for adults and teenagers this baby rocks!!! http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=31024582&l=ff90928e09&id=1136435392

Toy caps will fire it but BP will not?? How does that happen???

the expanding gasses of the BP will escape from the touch hole, however the powder from caps will explode really fast propelling the projectile at high velocities.
