I have an H&R sportster in 17hm2, can it be re-chambered to 17 hornet? The the bullet diameters are the same and the barrel is the heavy barrel, same as they use for the 17HMR. The only issue I can see would be relocating or cutting down the ejector. Has anyone done this?

17 Hornet is centerfire; 17 HMR is rimfire.

Perhaps a 17HMR barrel rechambered to 17 Hornet could be fitted to a centerfire H&R receiver.

My first question is, do 17 HMR and 17 Hornet use the same rate of twist in the rifling?

(17 HM2 is based on 22 LR case, 17HMR is based on 22 WMR.)
